+1

I bought SCX24s for my 4 y/o twins and they love it. Allowed them to play with trucks like daddy but at a slower pace.

Redcat Everest 10.

I've had cheaper ones but wouldn't bother with anything cheaper if I had to do it over again. I got both my boys an E10 last christmas. My soon to be 5 year old has used the crap out of his.

You can do lots of of stuff to them to make them your own which will happen even if you spend a $400+ on a RTR truck. None of them are actually finished out of the box.

I have 2.2 Wraiths for myself, my 10 year old daughter and my 4 year old boy.
He does great with it. Loves crawling.
I have the throttle at 75% for him.
We all share parts and having 3 identical rigs makes it fun. We can all tackle the same obstacles.

For a 4 year old, I'd get him one of the WPL trucks that are less than $50. For something faster I'd recommend the feyue eagle f03 or one of its variations, also about $50.

i got my son, now 5, a trx4 sport. quite durable, easily survives the wrong turn into the pond and has good capability when you want a turn. he actually got really good a throttle control, but would still rather use full throttle while full steer to make it flip over than crawl slowly over obstacles, but the rig is surviving just fine.

Any recommendations?
Thanks.
Buy a used TRX4, they are allover online. Parts are available and they are easy to fix. While your at it buy two because you will need one. If he looses interest sell it.

Get an Element 24. Motor more robust than the Axial 24. If you want to mod go with the Axial.
