Default Need Ideas: Halloween candy delivery via RC truck

Since the 2020 version of Halloween is "Trick or Covid", kids aren't going door to door. Ziplines, shoots, etc.. those ideas are out there. My wife actually said "I wish we had like a big remote control car or something - we could sit in chairs in the driveway and drive candy to the kids at the street..." No. Really. I said "I do have one... remember... big blue Scout... on a shelf in my office?"

Anyway, we may actually do that - sit there with a cooler, a couple chairs, a bag of candy and the Gen8 Scout. But, I need to come up with a big roof rack/basket. I mean, short of buying a roof rack or trailer for the truck. Bigger and deeper would be better too.

Anyone else thought of using an RC truck to pass out candy? Got any ideas?

Default Need Ideas: Halloween candy delivery via RC truck

I’ve never done it, but it doesn’t have to be super intricate. Don’t think too much into it.

first thing I would do is ditch the body. Then, just attach a HUGE bowl to the chassis. Maybe you can incorporate the body posts to attach the bowl.

It could definitely work with just a little bit of thinking.

Hope this helps somehow

You could use a Slash and cover a lot of ground in quick order lol. But seriously, if I was going to try something, I'd also recommend ditching the body. You can buy large ( and cheap) plastic bowls at walmart. Then just ream the body-mount holes and attach with body clips. My wife has a couple bowls that are very large and the bottoms are flat. Filled with candy it would be pretty top-heavy but at slow speeds it would be doable.

Check your local Dollar store. They sell little 3"x5", or 4"x6" plastic drawer organizer baskets under $2. They come either solid or as a mesh. The mesh might work better, just enlarge a couple bottom holes to fit over the body pins.

I bought a cheap single axle trailer off amazon, going to use that to run candy to the kids, while we sit on the porch and drink

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's not huge, but it will hold some candy, plus I have a 3d printed bed on my crawler, that will hold a bit too.

We don't typically get a lot of trick or treater's, but I thought it would be fun. I'll probably throw a cheap light kit on it as well.

Should be fun...

I would think that using a low profile dish or tray would work better than a high cog bowl. It would allow you to run quicker speeds. As they arrive Load as many treats as you need per group. Mikes idea of using the body posts as a mounting point seems like a good plan. Just add a couple of extra temporary braces to hold the tray steady

Kids are going door to door in my area. We are just putting the candy in little ziplocs, setting them on a table on the driveway...grab one each. Trying not to overthink this lol. Our neighborhood typically does halloween on the driveways, its not a door knocking thing.

My 14 y/o has take the initiative for handing out the treats. He rigged up a piece of pvc pipe that runs from the front porch down to the yard. Kids can hold their loot sacks open at the bottom of the pipe and my kid is gonna let the candy bars slide down from the porch.

He did a bang-up job on it
