| Looking for a budget offroad truck for my nephew...
Hey guys, my brother has tasked me with looking for an RC vehicle for my nephew. Goal is to get him outside and off of video games, lol I'm looking for something that will be pretty tough, but also pretty cheap (I know, this is a hard ask...). Budget is around 200 bucks, if possible. It doesn't need to be an all out crawler, nor does it need to be fast at all. Would prefer 1/10 scale, but that's not required. I'd be fine with a BND, as I have a spare Spektrum remote I can give him. Any ideas? Thanks for the help! |

I’m not a Traxxas guy but it sounds like the Bandit, Rustler or Stampede fit that description. All three base models are less than $200 and I believe come with everything but the battery. My plan is to pick up a bandit for my seven-year-old for Christmas and for pretty much the same reasons you listed. Plus, it should be pretty easy to upgrade it to make it faster in the future. That pretty much takes crawling off the table but they should have a lot of fun with it. I think most if not all of the 1/24 scale mini crawlers come complete and are less than $200 but I think that might get boring for a kid. Good luck |

The Arrma series of 4x4 brushed trucks (Granite, Senton, Typhon) are really fun and tough for the money. What kid wouldn’t love a relatively fast truck that you can jump off stuff and not break it? For $230, they come with everything including a battery and charger. Our local shop has been selling way more Arrmas than the comparable Traxxas models for over a year now. |

Thanks for the info, didn't know traxxas made trucks that cheap. Anyone have any experience with RGT trucks? They seem to be ok for the money, is what I'm reading: https://www.ebay.com/itm/RGT-Rc-Craw...EAAOSweqpefddu |

Someone from my work picked up that Bronco, in the same color even - their first crawler... Seems pretty good for the money. There are threads about it and others that use the same chassis elsewhere on the forum |

Have you tried Bookface marketplace? I've had great luck over the years picking up used crawlers. If you can be patient, a great deal may pop up. Many people buy RC cars, play with them a couple times, and then put them on a shelf. A lot of times those end up for sale rather cheap. Remember if the listing doesn't say the price is FIRM.....shoot them an offer. :-)

I also have a Losi 22 sct that was around $250 but I know they have one for less than $200 that has a brushed motor. Short course is a different direction but I have a lot of fun with it and take it out often enough. The Arrma options are a good recommendation and I forgot that they were that cheap. I almost went with the Senton but picked up the Lodi instead. Redact has a bunch of options all well under $200. |

Brother ended up going with the Arrma Senton. We went by the local hobby shop, not expecting them to have any Arrma stuff. We were originally going to look at the Stampede, but after comparing it with the Senton, the Senton was the clear winner. It felt and looked like a much higher quality truck than the price tag. Hopefully my nephew will enjoy it! Thanks for the help guys! |

You did not specify what sort of driving you want to do. The Traxxas Slash would be my recommendation for an all around RC. A bit more than $200 but well worth the investment.
