Tires look kinda small. Does it say 4.19x1.7?

That would wake things up for them a bit.

They've released the Ryft for 2.2 and drag cars under Losi, so new a 1.9 crawler chassis would be perfect for the Xmas shopping season - especially with some fresh body options!
I hope not...Axial's bodies usually look FAR better than Proline's. Proline does weird stuff with their dimensions.

I'll have to agree with you here. It seems like Pro-Line's scale bodies have gotten worse over the years.

Axial's lexan bodies have always looked pretty darn good especially with the plastic molded pieces.

Someone saw him driving this rig at CDM last year. Pretty much what you just said.

I'll third the motion. The Cliffhanger body is the first Pro-Line body that I've had in awhile that reminded me of older Pro-Line molds in its sharpness.

This potential for a first-gen Bronco from Axial excites me. Will be on my list if a kit/roller is offered.

The Gladiator is currently at a suggested retail of $519.99

The JLU is $499.99

There have been rumors that all new R/C products will be somewhat more expensive due to uncontrollable changes in the manufacturing world.

Who knows what it will hit the shelves at...

As far as the details, it looks like (from the fuzzy text):

Dig included

2speed optional

Replica 5.0 V8, transmission housing and transfer case

Rock rash protection with fender flares and rock sliders

Fender liners and floor sides

Open interior with seats, dashboard, steering wheel, and floor pedals

Exterior details with license plates, working head and tail lights, windshield wipers and hood scoop

Spectrum SMART 2 in 1 Rx and ESC sending telemetry to a DX3 Tx

Revised battery mounts accept standard LiPo or NiMh battery packs

Adjustable wheelbase chassis

Revised suspension geometry for AR45... (trails off there, might be some more info hidden)

And of course there's a full size spare, for those who care about such things.

I understand the price of things have gone up, we're rather high on some thing at the plant. But $580?! Holy crap! May have to just wait for the body to come up for sale...

I'm not a huge fan of the 10.3 transmission, and at $580, this is a big 'no' from me.

Finally an Axial I am excited about! Straight axles on a everyday rig and I am an early Bronco fan.

I was not into the portal axles on anything but the Capra.

I'm just not seeing the value here at $580. More mediocre base level spectrum rtr electronics in a premium priced rig. How much does the Ford rights cost? $80 more than Chrysler?

The new TRX Bronco sells for about $560 and looks like crap. If the new Axial looks like the Pics Topher posted that extra few dollars won't be an issue.

BUT

The axial 10.iii did seem to have problems with the dig and 2nd gear not always working and week portals compared to the TRX. If Axial fixes it quality issues I can see them as a better choice for people looking at the TRX vs the Axial.

If Enduro came out with better axles in their kit I can see them being the top RTR.

And it's a 2-in-1 receiver and ESC? Radio Shack much? Can't just swap in your own receiver anymore without getting a new ESC too.

This ecosystem sh*t needs to end. Amazed Horizon is still using three wire servo leads that could be potentially plugged into competitor's receiver.

Meanwhile redcat is bringing out a truck with a HW 1080 and a Holmes motor.

This Bronco looks amazing - but the way Horizon is shaping things up, I'm less enthusiastic.

Price is high for sure. However, I think as others have mentioned, it is more a result of manufacturing / shipping costs going up, and not so much that this new release is in any way more complex, higher quality, or feature rich than previous releases.

I saw a comment the other day that said the cost of a Traxxas Xmaxx went up $100. I did not look to verify that though.

Redcat released something the other day, and people complained about the price there too.

It seems like we will be complaining about the prices of every new RC release that we see over the next year or more, because they are higher than what we are used to seeing.

As for the release itself, it seems like a logical release. Putting the straight axles under an RTR makes sense. Putting straight axles under a body that actually had straight axles also makes sense. The Bronco is a hot topic of discussion lately. However, with Traxxas releasing the 2021 Bronco, Axial sending out an early Bronco also makes sense.

Do I like it? I can do without it. I think Axial did a good job. The white and blue colour scheme is quite nice I think. I'm not a big fan of this generation of Bronco, but I certainly don't dislike it. I've also come to really like the portal axles on my 10iii JLU, if I'm being honest. This is a bit of a pivot for me, as I was very much not a fan of portals, until I started driving them. Personally, I would have scrapped the dig, to try and keep the cost a little lower.

If you use a Spektrum radio, the 2 in 1 is a pretty nice setup. Hobbywing is pretty obviously making all of Spektrum’s ESCs these days. You can hook it up to a HW programming card and has mostly all the programming functionality of a HW 1080. It also costs way less than having to buy a Spektrum receiver and a 1080. You also get telemetry and the ability program straight from the radio with some Spektrum ESCs (not sure on this one but the ones from some other RTRs can) which is awesome.

If you prefer another brand of radio, then you are going to be disappointed.
