| New Driver enters the hobby....
My youngest son Alex ( 11 ) had a chance to take his new Element Gatekeeper out on the trail for the first time, and I'm pretty darn proud. He is an excellent student at school, and it carried over to the hobby. He listens well and takes action on pointers. There were a few tricky spots today, but he stayed with them, picking up the Gatekeeper when it rolled, and tried the obstacle again and again until he nailed it. All while under the discomfort of a hot morning sun shine. We spent about 2 hours on the trail and then headed home for a cool beverage. Alex helped build this kit, pick out the colors, wheels, and stickers; he has taken full ownership of this and I'm super pleased. Hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend! |

Back out under a hot sun checking out a new spot. Now we drive along the road and Alex is scanning for new areas to crawl. He spotted this area off in the distance, so we made a short adventure to check it out today. Good times but super hot, so we had a short session. |

Looks like your doing ot right, getting him into a fun hobby and spending time together. Vegas ia probably way too hot to be outside long. Just keep having fun. Makes me want to get out and do another day of rc's soon.

Great to see the groms get out there and drive! Careful, this could lead to a very dangerous 1:1 addiction as well. I'm a little ways out, but my 19 mo. old girl points and lets out a 'chuck!' every time the truck is in site. Cracks me up. |

Many thanks all...! I just finished up a new body for him to run once he gets a bit better and the roll-overs are a bit less frequent. I'd much rather have him feel ok rolling it over with the chassis, so he can focus on learning the truck and not worrying about the body. |

Ha.! Thanks, I was testing out a color pattern for a new body going on the VS 410 Pro. It's a base of gold pearl with candy rootbeer faded into the bottom of color changing rose to gold. Backed with gloss black. I did the windows in tint. I want to get better at blending and fading colors, so this was another practice run. Got a long way to go before I catch up to some of the guys here. I need to put down surface prep next time; some of the gold pearl has a few funky swirls in it. I like the color and it pops in the sunlight. Going to run it a bit on the trail tomorrow while Alex is busy with sports. Glad you like it. I'm quite fond of it myself. Adding the body was very simple to the Gatekeeper, and less than half the weight of the cage. |

Fancy! I have a slew of upcoming bodies that need to be trimmed and painted. I might go for a more simple rootbeer backed with black. Gotta find it in a can, I don't do airbrushing. Appreciate the detailed explanation - I'll bet your young-un is enjoying the heck out of that truck! Last edited by durok; 07-25-2021 at 02:55 AM. Reason: spelling fail (getting old!) |
