Default Hot glue in led light housing?

Has anyone seen the video from ampro where he fills the led light housings with hot glue to disperse the light and make it fill the housing more? I was wondering if anyone has tried it.

Yeah the hot glue is playing the same role as if it were made of glass or a clear plastic solid housing. Neat trick for sure.

Doesn't the glue change color and shrink after a while?

Maybe do a clear silicone instead?

Another possible option would be to fill the space with clear epoxy. I haven't tried it myself, but I'm aware of others who have, and successfully. Personally, I like the clear silicone idea, as I think it might do a better job of evenly distributing the light, while simultaneously "diffusing" it.

If you file the round end of the LED flat the light won't be as focused as well, and does a decent job of diffusing the light.

Spray the inside with matte clear spray? I've seen all epoxy eventually yellow over time. Every old RC airplane I've seen at swap meets have yellowed epoxy joints.

They sell diffused leds, but you could also just scuff it with a piece of sandpaper.
