Default Transmissions

Hi all. Just wondering if anyone in the lcg world has had much experience with different transmissions and can help out with giving their opinion/advice.

So:
I’m into slow and scale crawling
I’d like to have some overdrive in the transmission but not as important as I can do it in my axles
And I’m working with a Gspeed chassis and want to drop my body a lot so not something too tall

Thanks everyone

TGH 2low transmission or TGH forward motor mount kit.

Team Garage Hack has a couple of good options, the 2.low if you want a centered motor and the forward motor mount/creaper transfer case combo for a forward motor.

https://www.teamgaragehack.com/colle.../tgh-exclusive

I've used both and both are great, both have overdrive options. There are parts to allow mounting the forward motor mount on the Gspeed chassis.

Artful Dodger just came out with a few tweaks on some stock options (Axial 3 gear and Enduro tranny) making them a bit more LCG. Scroll down to the Fox Belly listings: https://www.artfuldodgersdesign.com/...rts-c125307603

Don’t rule out the vfd if you are using offset front diff. Very low and forward motor position, o/d stock, option for higher o/d, and dig. Price is good at $120 for a kit trans, and weight is comparable to a TGH fmm/t-case, and doesn’t require a third driveshaft.

All good options out there, comes down to budget, output position, motor position, o/d desired, availability, etc.

VFD if you ave an offset axle, or TGH FMM/Creeper if you don't.

Working on a VFD Twin Gspeed at the moment.

Thanks guys. Really helped out.

I’ve done a bit of research with all options and have decided on the 2.low

Next question is, does anyone know what drive shafts I’ll need to fit it to ar45 portals?

Axial Wild Boar driveshafts; easy to custom length them due to plastic and inexpensive.

I've got two GSpeed V3's with 2.low's and a TGH Sherpa with the FMM/Transfer case. I can't really tell a difference between the two in terms of performance but they both are a great choice.

My TRX trans sits lower than the 2 low (with motor). The too low is so wide it cant sit down as low in the frame rail and the gear is big and heavy. I think the ticket is the TG creeper with the motor mounted forward with a little stubby revolver. I think that is my future direction.

I just got a couple stubbies to replace my full-size revolvers and they work great for about half he weight.

I’m running a 2.low in my gspeed with Capra axles, currently running the new isd10 Phoenix driveshafts. Wb8-hd shafts are solid and can be had on eBay as new take offs for about $35 but incision shafts will work also. I’m sitting at 12.5” wheelbase with no issues

D lux has a portal transmission it’s super tiny and extraordinarily light. I ordered it for my Capra axle build. Not sure how it is yet but pretty sure d lux doesn’t usually disappoint. Edit, forgot to mention it comes in at a lovely 140 bucks including shipping.

I'm considering the same thing for my Buggy. Are you gonna run 3S or 4S?

I’m sticking to 3s in hopes to prolong the life of my crawlmaster mini.

I have been dealing with this for my C1.

Delux seems to have a great option for portals. FRICKER08 talks about it above. I think for simplicity and I like the Hamberger because it is light ( I can do OD/UD0) in the axles. If I go the Tcase route than the TGH OG with 15%. The creeper has 30% and I don't want that much for my C1. I comp and having the tcase is good for points but kind of waiting on the 2022 SORRCA rules. I have read somewhere it has to look look scale. I am not doing that. Don't want the added weight and size. Going with a FMM, added drive shafts, and tcase setup will weigh maybe twice as much as the Hamberger esp if it has to look like a "scale".

I have some StealthX trans and they are big and heavy. I have a TGH 2low and like I said above it is does not sit too low. It is so wide it has to sit on the frame rails, and it may not be as heavy as the Stealth X it still isn't really light.
