| Source for longer tranny mounting screws
Hey everyone, I need to get some longer screws to mount my axial 3 gear tranny to the skid plate. They're those countersink/flathead screws that have like a self tapping thread. I'm having problems finding longer ones that use an Allen head. I've found ones that use a phillips but I really don't want to use a Philips head. I've checked McMasters and Fastenal and either I'm blind or they don't have anything like that. If anyone has a link on where to find them I'd be super grateful!

Search "M3 hex socket flat head cap" on Amazon or wherever.

| Re: Source for longer tranny mounting screws I checked Amazon and found a bunch but they were all machine thread, and I need the self tapper type. I'm still searching and I may have found some mystery metal ones from China on eBay with a month shipping. So still hunting. Appreciate the help!

You can get away with using a regular flathead M3 with machine threads (the typical fine threads) in place of the course (wood screw type threads) that Axial uses. It will be cutting new threads essentially but I've never had any issues doing this. You should be able to find those at a hardware store |

No problem Amain has a great selection of screws and it looks like there may be a few with coarse threads in different lengths if you want to go that route. https://www.amainhobbies.com/search?...ping+flat+head Last edited by HumboldtEF; 01-29-2022 at 06:37 PM. |

I used machine thread. I mostly replace coarse thread screws with machine thread anyway.
