New compact backyard crawler course Built this small course today for some quick crawling/beers and testing/tuning. 1200lb of sharper edged type rock were $.05/lb ($60). Yes there are free rocks in the woods nearby but they are all round and smooth and I didnt want that. https://i.postimg.cc/PqQCdw6b/IMG-2994.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/nzVCrh5y/IMG-2995.jpg Painted a Lowes bucket camo brown to serve as a base https://i.postimg.cc/sgRf12GT/IMG-2996.jpg There are 3 ways in and many different lines as it is configured now. easy to hard(er) https://i.postimg.cc/0jM5KMCB/IMG-3004.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/0QH2Nd7S/IMG-3006.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/wTNT6NMt/IMG-3001.jpg Gonna add another bucket on the upper left and some more big rocks I think https://i.postimg.cc/4yDf6fLN/IMG-3007.jpg |
Re: New compact backyard crawler course Love this. Also was unaware on rock pricing. |
Re: New compact backyard crawler course thanks! Just picked up 4 more big rocks (300lbs/$15) and put them in the upper left. Gonna do some runs and see how it goes before making any changes. https://i.postimg.cc/MTj10Dq7/IMG-3009.jpg |
Re: New compact backyard crawler course I need to grab me some rocks. Would be perfect for my little narrow area. |
Re: New compact backyard crawler course i would sugest adding other materials to the mix plastic and or glass and or wood and differnt rock the different terrain is alot of fun on a small course old coolers are my favorite then buckets almost no tire gets grips on those and is a good excuse for some wheel speed |
Re: New compact backyard crawler course I'd think based on the looks of his landscaping he probably has a significant other that wouldn't take kindly to the junkyard approach to a crawlin' course! His still looks like a garden. Make the wife happy, that way she doesn't brain ya when you order another crawler! :lmao: |

Re: New compact backyard crawler course Yes, trying to have it blend in with the scenery. Less flak from wifey this way. First run on the course and also the first run for a 10.2 and the Amazon Dig trans. Markers are on the way. https://i.postimg.cc/QCm9hDP0/IMG-3013.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/g2CJ9rjG/IMG-3026.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/T1fLz1kK/IMG-3015.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/2853hPgN/IMG-3018.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/m26kwmGz/IMG-3025.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/K8kzstZ9/IMG-3020.jpg |

i am looking forward to finding some crawl spots down there when i visit back to the op having differnt terrain types really steps up the fun factor on small courses theres no reason the junk cant be hidden under other stuff just enuff showing for the rig to run on otherwise it gets boring real fast but theres always micros in small spaces like that the micros rule the day |
Re: New compact backyard crawler course Its a small course but I had a blast at least for today! Put another 4 big rocks (500lb) on the left this afternoon and it added a lot of complexity https://i.postimg.cc/BnZqdyxQ/IMG-3027.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/Kv2c54jT/IMG-3043.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/59vNv841/IMG-3041.jpg |
Re: New compact backyard crawler course I could see you crawling and the wife come home, seeing you then rolling her eyes [emoji23] |
Re: New compact backyard crawler course LOL, she did that an hour ago when the last action pics above were taken. |
Re: New compact backyard crawler course My wife's go-to is "what am I going to do with all of this stuff when you're dead?" Which I think is an indication that she knows something I don't. But then again, my last load of materials dropped off was 3 tons of quikrete and mortar mix. Before that it was 26 tons of concrete rubble. Oh, and 4.5 tons of decomposed granite. "Compact" is not a word that gets used 'round here. |
Re: New compact backyard crawler course "Which I think is an indication that she knows something I don't." Too funny! Love your videos Dr! |
