Exclamation 1:6 build up, project unnamed

Well for the past few days I have been building up my latest crawler, although I have had it for a year I just decided its time for some mods! So far In the past week I have cut the tires, Painted the rims flat black. Cut both front and rear tabs. I also just got done doing a tummy tuck cut off a little more than one inch! Cut fenders, and added doors which I plan on redoing. And I am now in the middle of building a complete new cage out of 3/8" brake line.
As of right now there is no shocks on it and it just has limiting straps on it!

PLANS probaly wont go in this order but what I plan to do
Finish cage
Build front and rear tube bumpers
Build tube fenders
Paint
put savage shocks on it, ounce i find the rest of the peaces to them!
possibly dovetail, not much though
find a reasonably priced 10 cell batterie!!!

I have got most of my ideas off of poisonsypdercustoms.com

I now that this thread is worthless with out pics but I will get pictures up tonight, have to go get the camera and take some pictures

sounds cool. i'd really like to see some more people do dovetails, but be sure to do that before you finish the cage or you'll have to redo it.

Well I know about how much I want to dovetail, and i ran out of tube, so I couldnt get the back done so I will do the dovetail tomorrow and then get some more tube on monday. The cage is very tall right now but I am going to cut it down a half an inch, prolly tonight. I would really like to find a new battery, I want a 10cell but I dont want to pay over $30 fro the 3600mah! Here are some pics for now http://public.fotki.com/scalecrawler...nylint001.html
Tell me what ya think, and yes you can critisize my welding, i didnt think it was to bad considering, I havent welded much of this thin stuff and im only 15 years old.

What do you guys run on 10 cells for the MAH? And what kinda run times do you get, i've looked through the batterie threads and never got the info i was looking for.

the welding looks fine to me, you have to start somewhere, right?

as far as runtime goes just do this:
say you get an hour of runtime on a stock battery (4200mah), if you get more or less than an hour just put that number of minutes in place of the 60 and recalculate that to get a different ma and divide the mah of your other battery by that ma to find out how many minutes of runtime you will most likely get

4200mah divided by 60 minutes (the total runtime in minutes) equals 70ma

this means you use about 70ma each minute

divide whatever mah battery you plan to run by the 70ma to find out approximately what your runtime would be with that particular battery.

say you get a 3600mah battery, divide that by the 70ma to get about 51 minutes

hope this helps, if you need more help, just post or pm me

Well today my plans are to cut out part of the floor or the jeep so the body can go onto it with the battery in its original place, and then it is to cover up the electroncs with some of the old plastic. After that I will probally start the dovetail or the tube fenders depending on what I feel like and how much time I have.

Well its been a while and I figured I would update yall on the progess, mainly because I just finished up the cage, tube fenders, and front bumper. Its really starting to looks sweet, IMO. I still have to do some finishing cage work, such as sanding/grinding. I still am trying to decide if i want to dove tail, I did make the cage narrow in the back end so I could dovetail it in the future. I still have to make the rear fender gaurds.
Ounce all of this is done I am going to paint it, and as for that I am still trying to decide.

Sorry that I dont have any pictures, the camera isnt in here right now, but I will get pictures up either tonight or tomorrow.

Default Why not make a tuber?

Looks like you know how to braze, or weld, pretty well. So why don't you just make a tuber? That's what I did, and mine wheels so much better than it did on the OEM plastic chassis. You have the know-how. Now put it to good use.

Well I was driving this thing around the other day, and I was crawling up the side of a barrel when pop, the stock servo thingy decided to take a crap! BUMMER, well looks like this is going to be sold as parts! Everything works good but the servo is JUNK so either I keep it and put a new servo on it with a voltage regulater that cost $50.00 or I sell it for $70.00 as parts! Well I have no clue!
