I have a gear reduction unit of 1.6:1 and my clutch/spur is 8:1. What is my new gear ratio? Do I add or multiple them to get my end ratio? thanks

Multiply, but you still need to multiply your internal tranny ratio and your axle ratio to get your final or end ratio.

If you have the gears set up in a reduction direction, then your new gear ratio would be 12.8:1. This is done of course by multiplying the ratios together. -Sam

What kind of tranny are you using? What axles? What pinion/spur? Give out a bit more details and we could probably help you find a final answer.

ok, here is what i got.... x factor axles, emaxx tranny(still using 1 & 2 gear), 72 tooth spur, 9 tooth pinion. as of now I use 1st gear only cause 2nd is still too high for my needs. I like 1st gear for bumping up a rock but would like an even lower gear for slow crawls. so i'm trying to make 2nd gear have the same ratio as my 1st gear is now by using a gear reducer. I looked up the gearing and there is a 1.6 difference between the tranny's 1st and 2nd gear so that leads me to believe i need a 1.6 reducer to make this happen thanks guys
