TXT's are like a Jugg 3.... probably best bang for you buck if a first time crawling rig. Has few goodies that make it a very nice stocker on the rocks. Clod... in stock form they suck. These require more build-up time and money than compared to a stock TXT. | |

Well, A Clod and a TXT are two totally different trucks. Cod has the motors mounted to each axle. This requires one normal rotation and one reverse rotation motor. A TXT has a center tranny, driveshafts connect the tranny and axles. Can run two normal rotation motors OR a single motor if wanted. Much easier to add a gear reduction unit. A TXT will provide 100% equal power to front and rear axles.... a Clod can have one motor stall leaving one motor to do more work, never 100% equal power. There's just so many different combos when building these trucks. But, I really bet you'll find more people point a newbie to RC Crawling towards the TXT mainly due to its ease of crawling right out of the box. I own a modded Jugg2, not very much left of it though as it's been high used

Check out the Clodbuster section crawler. Extremeoffroad, Janders, skoolbus, PoRiggity, sr5dave, and others have built clods for less than the cost of a stock TXT. Skoolbus has a huge post on how he built his chassis, Janders used a TXT chassis and clod axles. Clods offer lower center of gravity and do not have problems with driveshaft torque tire lift. True, gearing is more limited and the independent motors can hurt you in some spots but can help in others. The choice is yours to make, any crawler can be the best if you build it right.

I dont have a problem with 'Tire lift" on my shafted rig. Also, keep in mind if you plan to run in any water or mud. Clods motors are very low to the ground and can get fouled up. ryan

well between the TXT and clod, i would say go for the TXT... the TXT is pretty well ready to rock and roll as soon as you put it together . the clod you need to do a bunch to. i also like the idea of having full power at the front and rear of the truck, unlike a clod shifting it back and forth between motors. you mention putting time and money into it( which we all do) but you will have more tied into the clod more than likely to get it perform the way you want..BUT, there has been a few people make a clod work pretty good for less than a new TXT
