Default Has anyone done a dual triangulated 4 link?

For my next project, which will be a tube chassis, I am thinking about doing a dual triangulated 4 link. Has anyone done this? Here's what I'm talking about

I'm debating wether or not to do it once I get a new chassis and new links.... but I have yet to see many RC Crawlers going that route. Just seems like triangulating the upper links tends to be the norm.

Well, in real life it reduces rear steer, if done properly. provides a LOT of strength in keeping the axles centered...

But keep in mind, these aren't real trucks! I'd be surprised if it was worth the effort. And it'd be tough to do on a clod.

Good thinkin Adam, nuthin wrong with tryin new stuff, especially if it werks on 1:1 rigs.

Like my coil spring suspension, sometimes you notice stuff that makes you think it makes a difference but it's hard to say for sure.

Kona, yer truck looks sweeeet!

Why would it be hard? Just use the regular 4 link top post mount on the axle, and fab up a simmilar mount on some sort of crossmember on the chassis.

My thoughts exactly. A TXT would be nice and easy to do the dual triganulated 4 link on. I am doing it to mine, whenever I get off my lazy 2nd shift working butt and do it.

I did it on my buggy and it worked out good, eliminated all axle steer, which may not be a concern for some but I didn`t want any. And it does a great job of locateing the axles securely. There isn`t a great amount of triangulation on the uppers ( looks almost nonexistent due to the bends to clear the chassis on up travel) but seems to do fine. I was tring to keep the lower part of the chassis as narrow as possible.

The lowers would most likely hit the engines when you tried to bring them in. The uppers are easy, that is how mine are mounted.

I haven't personally but a buddy in my 1:1 4x4 club did it on his Jeep. It works really well. If you understand the phyisic behind them it's a great way to go. You'll need to find out you COG, the antisquat percentage you are looking for, and you damn drawing a blank. Doing a 4 link the right way will give a dual tri set up. I"m sure the Pirate4x4 board can answer all your questions just search before asking. Check the tech section too."The answers are out there will help you find them." PBB(actually it's OSH ad)

One thing about AS, your COG and link geometry... They're not real trucks. It only sort of applies. In the real world my truck would perform horribly.. but it does ok since its not a real one!

yeah i didn't find my COG and all that crap on mine and it works like a dream. now if i was doing it to my 1:1 rig, then i would go through all the trouble of that stuff, but not on my RC

So do the links sit parallel to each other, or is one at an angle or what?

I could always bend the links to wrap around the motors.

They’re pretty close... Try to keep your upper & lower mounting points the same distance apart for the axles and frame.

I've always run a mildly double-triangulated setup on my Clods......

I was only suggesting that if he wants the links to be parallel to each other, he should keep the mounting points similarly spaced.
