Did your chassis come with the "grins"? Looks like you need to relocate your shocks further out.

I would disconnect your shocks from the chassis and put something under the chassis to get it sitting at 3" and then see where the top of your shocks end up. That will give a general idea of what kind of mount you'll need to make to position the shocks properly.

Or you could try moving the lower mounts from the axle up the lower links which will make the shocks more upright.

If you move the lower shock mount to the lower link, use good clamps so they won't slide around. You can get the cable clamps and collars from The Crawler Store under NN spare parts. These work great!. Also, I think RC4WD has some. I have used some from Crawford Engineering in the past too.

Get some like the crawler stores. You can find them at any local hardware store. or if you happen to see an electrician around ask him for 4 he'll probably give them to you.

I've discontinued the Grins, because of lack of interest. But have recently had a few requests so I'll get some made in the near future.

when using the cable clamps for shock mounts(like the crawler stores) ....i see some people with the collars and some without...are they really needed or would the plastic clamps be enough ???would they slide on the link without them ?? thanks for the help

I'm using cable clamps from my local hardware store on aluminum tube sleeved links, and they slid something fierce. I rigged up a bit of fuel tube and a couple of zip ties to hold it in place, which works well but probably won't slide well over rocks (mine is more of a basher right now).

Using cable clamps in this situation will probably introduce some torque twist. The further the shock is mounted away from the axle, the more leverage the axle has to twist.

As far as mounting them goes, you can wrap some electrical tape around the link to keep the clamp in place or use a clamp that is one size smaller than the link (i.e. 1/4" link = 3/16" cable clamp).

CJ, if you go with the cable clamps, use the TCS collars also.

I have used the clamps with a very thin piece of rubber between it and the link with some success. They will move around some though. The RC4WD ones look good but I haven't used myself.

Hub highth or no more than top of the wheel .
Try putting some Traxxas Long ball ends on the end of shock for taller shocks.
