Well the obvious advantages of the EMaxx tranny is 2 speeds (not always desireable), after market support and abundance of traxxas parts avalible.

Disadvatage: heavy & large.

I just assembled my tranny for my new Twin force today. I'll have to say,I'm impressed. Very simple design, light weight and everything,to me,looks VERY durable. One drawback to the Twin is the 2wd only in reverse. After some research and assembly,I've figured that thats a super easy fix. Get a rear drive cup and install on the front output shaft. The factory drive cup has a one way bearing inside. Some research has let me know Kyosho did this to improve handleing and eliminate the truck from rolling over frontwards on a sudden highspeed brake. I'll endup replacing the front drive cup with a rear for 4wd reverse and also front wheelies are kinda cool. I've got rather slick with front wheelies running my E-maxx,I'll have to try my Twin shortly.

Here's a picture....................

Are my eyes playing tricks on me or is the steering servo mounted to the chassis?

Well, yes it is mounted to the chassis and it does have waaaaaaaaaaaaay to much steering linkage,in stock form anyway. That picture is linked off of Kyosho's page,it's a shot of a stock Twin. I'm building mine as we speak, the steering servo will be moved to the axle eliminating all but 2 links. I was only speaking of the tranny,as I'm quite impressed with it's simple design and seems to be built pretty stout.

I'm pretty happy with the Twin so far. I think it's a great platform to start with. I feel with a better link configuration, better steering set up and lower gears it will be a pretty good crawler
