After the first page I just skimmed throught the thread but...

Did you happen to get it set up on a truck yet? It looks amazing but bulky, becuause of all the components.

In the process of mounting everything now, I am still building my rig so Im fabricating everything as I go so eveything fits perfectly. It realy isnt bulky at all and my desighn keeps the components to a minimum and out of sight on my rig! You wont even see anything but the steering actuator and the hoses, but hoses are cool right! And the sight of a hydraulic actuator for steering on a TLT based crawler is way cool! So I would say its a binnifit!

The only other thing you will see is the manifold with the bleeders under the hood but thats not at all bulky! The hoses will be steel braided as I have my own unique idea for that as well. Stay tuned it will be done soon and I will post pics as soon as its all plummed!

Thanks!!! I still need to test this on the rocks and if it works flawlessly I may decide to sell these systems. As for now, like I said before I still need to finnish my rig so I can go test all this stuff out. Im in Vegas for the next week and a half so there has been a little delay for now. Ill keep this thread up to date as I get closer so check back!

I work at patent/copyright firm that specializes in small inventors. You might want to check us out before going with another firm.

Like I said before and people keep denying, there is no mechanical advantage here. This post is aimed at no one in particular but I want everyone to understand.

If you decrease the master dia it will need to be longer to compensate for he lost volume, which means longer servo horns and less power applied. If you increase the slave dia you will have to compensate for the lack of travel by mounting the steering links closer to the knuckle's axis of rotation, which means less leverage. If you use shorter servo horns you get more power applied to the masters, but their diameter will have to increase or the slave's dia will need to decrease to make up for the lack of travel. Same thing if you want to mount the steering links closer to the knuckle's axis of rotation.

A standard servo moves around 60 degrees in .15 seconds right? Its still moving the same here and the end result is the same, there is no magical way to create extra power. If you still think its possible to keep the servo and amount of steering travel the same while increasing torque, give me the scenario and I will tell you why it wont.

I would still pay an arm and a leg if I had ones to spare for this setup. This is something that has been done very few times and it looks extremely scale. I really like it, especially because you are hand building it.

Most servos have nearly 180 degrees of travel in them, far more than a TLT axle will allow you to use. The extra travel can be used to pump a smaller, skinnier master cylinder. Ergo, mechanical advantage.

Even if there's a performance disadvantage this thing is just too damn cool I know what it's like to build 'em "just because." Well done.

Default Would this work?

Here's an idea instead of using a servo horn. It's similar to a winch on a sailboat. You could remove the pot from the servo to get enough rotation. It wouldn't self center just like 1:1 hydro steer. You could use a really small drum and get retarded torque provided you can get enough winds around it to keep it from slipping. There's probably a flaw in it somewhere but I thought I would throw it out there.

I think it would work for a non hydro set up as well. Simply replace the servo horn with a drum remove the pot and attach the line to the knuckles replacing the drag link.
