| ARRC Round 1 Pics
Hi guys, Just thought you might like to see some pics from the first round of the Australian Radio Rockcrawler Championship from this weekend. Three very nasty courses with lots of climbs and off camber stuff. http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Mo...ic.php?t=14269 Adman |

Best looking tyre there ! Russell experimented with Cutting and Shutting a set of IMEX Jumbo Max Claw Dawgs. It worked. The looked amazing and for anyone who doesn't know what a Mickey Thompson Baja Claw looks like, they look just like a real one, but better. It took russell a bit to get used to them and understand what they can and can't do, but by the third course they were working fine. Adman |

The labour recquired would make them VERY expensive. It sounds like a very long and painfull process. Matt can fill you in. Adman |

Cutting the tires and narrowing them is easy and it works. Just use the right glue and they'll hold up well. I did it with my claw dogs but the tires are not tall enough for me but they look very cool. All you guys that are jealous because they have nowhere to crawl, just come out to colorado and you'll see terrain and courses much tougher than the ones pictured(no offense Aussies!). We went to Pueblo this weekend for a crawl along the River Walk. Now that is hardcore rockcrawling! HUGE rocks, off camber, steep climbs and drop off ledges....everything! I snapped an axle shaft and fried a stock motor. Broke both trucks in one day! |

You can either cut your tires down to make them narrow or you can get some IMEX Dually tires.

Common dirk where are the pics of your already done Claws ,cut and shut. I was very nervous about cutting these tyres cause i had only seen smaller tyres done before ,so i tryed them on a set of 2.2 claws which worked out fine and now live on my Pajero.Cutting a couple of hundred dollar tyres is a bit scary but they worked out great and from the respons i see alot of guys interested in them. I cut a good couple of inches out of the centre and then gled them back together once aligned.I then sealed them up with urethane.Ensuring they will never come apart. They work EXTREMELY well in the right conditions and take a while to get the hang of to drive. In dirt they have huge amounts of grip so loose courses they will rule.Grippy beach rock and hard sandstone they are great but seem to be a bit stiff for smooth stuff. i will be syping them soon to get more bagging up out of them. |

You want pics.......?....I'll get you pics. I actually got the idea from a guy on this forum and the XFactor forum, Binary Terror. He gave me the idea about 2 months ago. I have a set of Claws that I never intended to use so one night, I just started cutting them in half. The hardest part was cutting them in half and making them come out with a perfectly staight edge. When I put the two halves together, there are a few gaps. I was thinking of putting something inside the tire so the two halves don't spread apart where the gap is. Like I said, I like the way they work and look but they are just way too small for my trucks. I'll take some pics and get them posted somewhere. Remember...you Aussies are not the innovators of all rock crawling creations!!! As a matter of fact.....I narrowed the stock tires on my stampede over a year ago! |

I just think if you want to get on a post and say'' i did that first ''you should have taken credit for it when you did it.I don't claim to be anything , innovator or not ,i wasn't even making a big song and dance about the tyres,i just made them and some guys got interested in them. I don't claim to be the first to cut tyres ,they have been doing that to 1\10 buggy tyres for a good ten years. So take a chill pill and take credit where credit is due ,you are the man,and Binary terror gets credit too. I just make things look good | |

Haha! I wasn't mad or anything. It's so hard to convey sarcasm on these forums. Sorry....didn't mean for you to take it that way. I don't ever want credit. I don't care if I'm first or last, as long as it works. I just wish they would have worked for me better. And by the way, yours do look nice. Mine are all chewed up and poorly thought out. If they were only taller!!!! |
