| World Crawler Build Off
Ok. Maybe we can try this again: If there is any controversy or BS that starts in this thread, it will be deleted immediately and we can all forget about the Build Off being organized through RCC. Let's keep it simple with only a few rules: Let's here 'em! |

Have a start date, finish date, online voting, no comp due to traveling troubles,no pics allowed during comp( keep it all secret until the end). yeah it will be hard to say someone didn't build it a year ago, but that way noone gets ideas stolen. other than those, lets get to building BTW- i agree with Dirk. Keep this thread on Topic ! |

what would be really cool is after the build, to ship all the rigs to a certain group of crawlers (the oregon guys, the colo guys, etc) and have them do a shootout of them.

But yeah that sounds cool, but i don't feel like blowing $40 to ship a rig there and back. although it may be cheaper on the way back( having less parts to add weight) if Dirk gets ahold of it

So are we going to see a set of rules and guidelines? I think the ideas so far pretty much would lay it out. Would there be prizes? Maybe a Vendor could kick something down? I say a 2 month build time would be good, seeing as how these things can be expensive to build. Maybe specific areas can be judged. Best looking Most expensive Least expensive Most articulation Most modification Most creative Cleanest build etc etc Blue |

| As far as "proof of date of build", my cam puts the time/date on the pic if you want it to. I'm sure that most others have this ability too. I agree with Twisted, I'm not shipping this thing anywhere! P.S. If this is actually going to happen, lets start it SOON. I hate to be pushy, but I'm in the beginning stages of building one now, so I def. don't want to build another one in a week or so. I'll just change some ideas around, and build this one EXTRA special... |

| Forgot to mention... Dirk, your idea, you set the rules, dates, etc. That way, there's no confusion. And, it's either we like it and compete, or we don't. 'Nuff said. |

| Another thing... I don't think that there should be any categories at all. IMO, we just need "best crawler" with 1-3 places (or whatever: 1-5, 1-10, etc.). As mentioned earlier (by Dirk I believe), if we split into categories, we could see trucks with awesome paint that couldn't get out of their own way. That's not very "world class crawler" material... Also, fab what 'ya like; buy what 'ya like. Just don't have custom parts made "for" you. Have them made "by" you. There's an old saying in the hot rod world that I believe applies to our hobby: "If it ain't custom, it ain't a rod (crawler)" Last edited by WRMorrison; 04-12-2005 at 07:53 PM. |

I say Dirk sets the rules. Listens to input and judges. Only thing worse than the wrong rules are no rules. I say 2 months minimum. Some guys have familys and jobs. Remember all those "deadlines" on build off shows are for T.V. |

Just to get this question out of the way, and there will be NO discussion on it. If you don't like it then don't participate. EVERYONE at RCC can participate in this "World Crawler Build Off", not just star members. Also, Jason and I a throwing in a free green star membership to the winner, and if you already have a green star then you will be upgraded to a gold star. If you already have a gold star then you are fawked!, just kidding, we will figure something out. Cool? End of discussion. Back to the topic at hand. Last edited by badger; 04-13-2005 at 10:29 AM. |

I will also bet that between Jason and I, we can get some of the major companies to donate some prizes. I have already been in contact with one that will donate some AWESOME crawler stuff. I am coming up with a list of simple rules and dates that I will post very soon. As Badger stated, if you don't care to participate, then don't. The rules and dates are not open for discussion. They are what they are! This will be a fun gig so get busy thinking of ideas and prepare to Build Off!!!!!!!!!!
