some searching would reveal how to do this, but if you hook the motor up to the spur and plug it in to a battery, it'll spin the shaft for you and then you can just lay a file on it and turn it down.

RC4WD sells 5mm pinions so you don't have to file down the shaft if you don't want to.

Nope i searched alright..i didnt come up with anything but i wat thinging of putting the shaft on my drill press and filing it down that way.

I think DUDE was doing this back in the day. He might be able to steer you in the right direction.

You can also get 5mm pinion gears.

Thanks but i found out a good friend of my dads has a lathe and he said he would be more than happy to turn one down for me. If anybody else has one that needs to be turned down lmk im shure if i give him a few bucks he will do more than one.

be sure to press the gear off so you will be able to chuck it in the lath good.

Some people turn down the shaft, some people drill out the pinion gear. I split the difference, but drilling the pinion out a little and turning the shaft down a little. This way the shaft is a little beefier and the set screw in the pinion still has plenty of threads to bite.
For turning down the shaft, I used my lathe aka: a cordless dril land a file. go slow, check your progress frequently, keep the file level, and this method is quick and easy. "thumbsup"
