I Mig welded it, I have alot of detail left to do. All the little brace tubing. I'm building a scale 2.2 version of this. Linky --> http://www.4wheelers.com/photos/proj...ho/rancho.html Last edited by hitman46mod; 10-31-2008 at 09:11 PM. |

Well, I have to stop with the detail. Till I get the guts installed and find out what does and does not work. But for now heres the plan. I want an R2D. I'm thinking of going with the Ultimate 2.2 comp combo from Holmes Hobbies. I have a Futaba 2 channel collecting dust I will use that as radio gear for now. I will most likely run a JR8711 up front just cause they rock. And I am split between the VF stalkers or a more scale looking RC4WD beadlock. Last edited by hitman46mod; 10-31-2008 at 09:12 PM. |

Run the VF stalkers. Forget any other beadlock ever existed, Billet Works is the only way to roll. You will not be disapointed. Nice tube work, I'm keepin' an eye on this build.

I did for see an issue with side hilling. At 9 1/8 inches track width, it seemed tippy. So I put on my RC4WD beadlocks and blam. It really set it off. And it is still a hair under 10" track width, and that is with the mud slingers on them. I think a nice set of losi's or moab's will do. Oh, yea The Hotness has links now. Started mocking up the interior. The seats I may order from Mytoy here on the board. The rest of the interior will must likely be aluminum, because I have a bunch in the garage. And you can tack it with the MIG. Last edited by hitman46mod; 12-29-2007 at 08:53 PM. |

Yea, I figure with some suspension tuning it will make a fine comp crawler. The link setup is very neutral. Just the way I like it. |

| Thanks man. I have to give credit to SlinkySam, his tiny build gave me the inspiration to do this build. Oh, mocked up some body panels. Last edited by hitman46mod; 12-29-2007 at 04:54 PM. |

Battery / trans layout. I think I will use velcro on the inside of the belly pan to hold the cells in place. Or, I could get retarded and make shelves for them to be ziptied to. I need my trans to arrive so I can get a measurement and weld in the mounting tabs. I don't trust my cardboard mockup that well.

Funny you ask that. Aluminum, the zip ties are for pics. I need to go get mounting hardware. I'm thinking 4-40 thread stainless socket head cap screws. Or maybe button head if I can get them in stainless. The body panels will be silver and the cage like a med blue. Cause, I can get all kinds of parts shocks, beadlock rings, and rims in blue or silver. |

If I were you, I'd use something other than aluminum as a skid plate. Aluminum is a very sticky metal, and might hang your truck up on the rocks. I would say use something hard like thin mild steel.

| I thought of that as well, I also have some thin gauge sheet metal some where in my garage. However most of the stuff we crawl on is smooth. Well, if it becomes a problem it will take longer to find sheet metal then it will to bend up a new belly pan. |
