Default And so it begins...

Started modeling my new crawler today. Basic specs are:

-Revo diffs in my own billet axle housings with Revo knuckles and CVD shafts
-My own design tranny with front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, or 4 wheel drive selectable (for front/rear digs)
-Brakes on front and rear drive shafts to aid in digs and positioning
-C/K style body to match my real life rig and the truck is sorta scaled off of it.
-K-Rocks on my own beadlock wheels
-Revo drive shafts
-55t lathe motor
-Novak Super Duty ESC
-Laser 6 Radio

Thats killer for a big ass rig. The RC sounds like it is going to awsome, can't wait for the build up. Hell, maybe you should save it for the build off.

I can't wait that long I've was hoping that my pos clod would get me through the times before the buildoff start date but I just keep wanting to mod it to make it work better and I don't really want to keep pollishing a turd (old zilla IV chassis) so I'm going to start on my new one. Then again, I may not be done designing the tranny and other stuff before the buildoff date so who knows

Okay, I'm no modeling genius by any means....I mostly work in 2d CAD but I do know a little bit about 3d. So did you really do all that in ONE day..... For me it would probably take me 1/2 of a day to just get the tires to look right and probably several days to get the body to look that good!

NICE cad work!

Yeah, theres about 8 hours in it. I actuall worked the night before from 10 to midnight and then yesterday I worked from about 4 to 10 or so. I've been using autocad for about 11 years (started with release 12) and just tought myself over the years.

That is good 3d work. I do some 3d also. I can appreciate the time it takes. I'd buy a set of those axles in a heartbeat

damn thats some solid 3d work.

did you model that body, or did you download it somewhere.

i love the servo/steering setup design, if you were goin from scratch wouldnt you go behind axle?

what sort of plans do you have on making brakes for it?

looks sweet mate nice cad work...

Nice 3D work, what version of cad are using? I really like the cab skin. Never really messed with the surfacing aspect in cad (had no need), just 3D.

I'm in the process of making my own maxx based diff (waiting to get machine time).

I'm using Autocad 2005.

I did model the body but I did it 5 years ago, I modeled it after my old 95 chevy ext. cab I had for a class in college. I have like 12 backups on cd's and different hard drives, I in no way want to redo that

As far as steering, the behind the axle was in the way of the driveshafts, links, etc. The servo mount is reverseable as in the servo can be flipped around backwards so wants I build the diffs and have it in my hand I can check it out and see if the steering links can squeeze by the suspension links.

The brakes will just be a savage style disc on each output of the tranny with a single servo running them. In the center will be no brake, one way will be front and the other way will be rear. It will run off a toggle on the radio.
