Default Cant decide which way to go w/ this one...

Im planning on finishing my "Heavy Chevy" build. Originally i planned for 4-link w/ a panhard in the rear set up fro droop, and leafs in the front now i'm in between a few rocks and a hard place. I have some 2.2 axial rims w/ Hammers and a ton of weight, i have my new 1.9 hummer wheels and rock creepers, stock Losi MRC tires (out if the question) and i want to narrow some clod tires to make redneck mudder tires like we have back in Minnesota, (plus i need practice narrowing tires) I think i would put some portals on the end of the tlt axles. What do you guys think?
Or i could go with the Hummer wheels And Creepers, a little more scale.
Or i could go with the lame MRC tires....

how are you planning on making the portals? gonna do a gear reduction at the wheel too or just 1:1 for the extra clearance. sounds like a cool idea. mudders look good

I'd run the creepers, but I'm partial to the scale side of things....

Oh its all about scale for me. In Minnesota we have mud trucks running on 60 some inch tires so thats not out of the question but i think i want E-Maxx power for the mudder. But the 2.2s look like 49" tires so its isnt not scale, and the creepers... oh the creepers i love them but i bought them for my mini scaler and they look too good on that. The portals i was going to buy from i think TCS has them? I have a friend machining me some 1.9 hummer beadlocks out of alumuminum, im thinking some trail doc XLs are going to look the best. This project is still in the air, if i can afford to buy a few clod bodies i will make a 80's suburban like my old one with a 6" lift and 38's.

If it is only going tobe a mud truck stick with leafs all around, more realistic. But if you want to trail it as well then I would 4 link the whole truck. Just my 2 cents.....

I wanted to have big travel in the rear and leafs if the front so the front dips into holes and the back flexes out huge. My 1.1 is a Toyota Tacoma with a 3.5" lift in the front and huge over the frame banana shackles, all sitting on 35" tires and the front doesn't have very much travel but the rear does and it keeps it exciting when your in the cab. I have A set of highlift leafs and i think im going to use just for the scale look, but i want to mess with somw revolver or hinged shackes.

just go with the one main leaf in the back and pending on what shocks you use go with lighter oil in them in the back or remove internal spring to give you more flex. but then you have to be careful as then the leaf is prone to bending so i wouldn't enter it in any tough truck competitions for jumping

I will either havy my machinist make me a set of hummer style beadlocks or i will narrow the stock clod rims and make some beadlock style rings on them.

if you run those mudders are you going to weld two frames on top of each together other like they do in those florida mudders ? make sure you get 20 plus shocks per axle... and pahnhard 6 link tosion bars

just kidding man, i can't decide what looks better.
i like them both.

Ha ha frame stack are a joke, we had a tweaker bring one into our shop for some fab work, we told him to get lost. This in az though. Im going with a different project i think, i got a major itch to build a rock racer tuber w/ a newbright FJ body cut up and bolted on. I gotta wait for the new shop so i can get on the TIG welder and start bending tube.... oh its going to be aluminum also.
