| scale monster truck
I am looking to build a monster truck from a tube frame. Where should I start? what kits and or truck and parts will I need. I have been in the hobby for many years and have owned a t-maxx that I installed a .21 conversion frame on and I had a mugen super athlte 1/8 buggy. I have a stampede a rustler and a slash. I am very handy with the trucks and love the way the scale monster trucks look. I am just not sure where to start. I have seen alot of cool looking clod buster- clodzilla stuff. Is that my best option for scale look? any info would be great Thanks for any help. I am new to the site so if I have done this wrong let me know.

The Wheely King is a decent little 1:12 monster truck. All you'd have to do is build a tube frame and add rear steer if you want that. But a Clodbuster or TXT would probably be the better choices.

start with a txt, clodbusters are nice but you cant go scale without drive shafts.

any of the trucks mentioned here would work. the clod is one of the most common monster trucks out there. the txt is similar, but with a center tranny and drive shafts. the wheely king is the least expensive and again has the center tranny and drive shafts. |

| Left to Right White H2 is a clod with Gecko 2 chassis, Black and white Suburban is a TXT with original Traxxas E-Maxx dual 550 motor drive train and the other one is a box stock TXT-1 This last pic is just for size comparision. Same 3 trucks in the background but 2 Slashes and a Savage up front. TXT's are good sized and dual motored. They weigh in at about the same as my Savage. If you want smaller and lighter, the Wheely King is good alternative and a single motor configuration. |

I say a wheelie king is the best option because of the parts availability. If you need a part for a clod or anything chances are you will have to order it or your local shop will. Most hobby stores, at least around here, stock parts for the wheelie king.
