SCX10 TR (Trail Ready) or build a scale.

use to be into nitro tmaxx's but with the cost i got out of it. im trying to decide should i buy a SCX10 TR (Trail Ready), and build a scale. as im not 100 percent on everything on a crawler. or just build one and not buy a RTR and face the challenges as im building?

I got the TR and love it, im using it as my scale build as well. Its extremely capable and alot of fun right outta the box. If you wanna build your chassis etc, go custom and piece it all together or get the SCX10 kit "thumbsup"

Ok so sounds like you have a good grasp of how to assemble an rc and work on one.

The TR is a great platform if you want to go home charge a battery and drive around; maybe mod it to your liking later.

If you really want to get a feel for the inner workings of your truck (I highly recomend this) then go with an scx10 kit. You will need to source your electronics if you go the kit route, but if you start with the TR you'll be doing that sooner or later anyway.

Either route you choose you'll have a great performing scale truck that you can put your energy into making even more scale later at a pace you're comfortable with without having to start from square one either by sourcing all the parts or hand making a chassis and then buying up all the bits and pieces to get it working.

im new to crawling as well and i am ordering the scx10 tr rtr cuz i figured it allready had bumpers and rock sliders and lights and all that and i actionly really hate the scx1o kit body .. with all the electronics in it i will use till i get sick of them and buy new and better ones and throw them a side for another thing myabe a scale build after i get the hang of things .. but other then that i think the scx10 rtr is the best thing compared for the money

i like the tr

i am thinking or just buy the tr and not the crawler one and then up grade but then again you can't go to a crawler down the road i dont think

davebarlow13 10-24-2009 09:32 AM

well the scx10 is a crawler just a scale crawler

the scx10 is great i love mine but i wish they had the tr when i bought it, with all the extra axial goodies its just too cool

I would say start with the scx10 and then maybe build a tube chassis for it down the road or something like that. Just get the tr and build from there. Great platform to start with "thumbsup"

My vote is for the TR as well. Drive it and find out what areas you want to upgrade as you go along.
