Transmission Recommendations I am gathering parts to scratch build a truggy. Beyond the layout that each tranny would require, are there any specific downfalls to the different types of transmissions? Right now I am looking at a planetary type or the RC4wd R2. From what I see the planetary does not allow any ability to adjust the gear ratios through changing out the spur or pinion gears. Thanks for the help, I am a converted Clodbuster guy so the transmission thing is new to me. |
Too Bad I too am searching for a transmission option. 2 or 3 speed, but can only find RC4WD stuff which I have not heard very positive feedback about. Or a Tamiya hilift 3-speed tranny which is plastic gears. Too bad there has been no helpful replies to this thread. |
If you only want single speed get an axial transmission. They are smooth and quiet. There is an R2 in the truck I'm building now and it's louder than a son of a bitch. |
the rc4wd trannys are for the most part really good just loud but can be quieted down with rocksmith gearjelly and i have had several tamiya 3 speeds and never has one of the plastic gears gone out |
