Barbless ocean fishing hooks.... about 5bucks for 6, easy to modify, and your not out 20 bucks if you happen to lose one on the trail. (Like my King kong hook.)

I used to make my own, take a piece of S link metal pinch one end closed, sand it file it, grind it then fill the gap with braze and grind the other side to a point. looks pretty good after a little bit of work Other wise I use the king kong. |

I make these....I sold them to guys in my club for $8 each. They are pretty easy to make if you have a band saw and a bench grinder. Made out of 1/8 inch steel plate. Don't ask for any because I don't have a vendors star, but I could show how it's done if you'd like. |

Iam using the King Kong Red, but IMO the hook opening is too narrow making it difficult to attach to a pull point. I like your hook idea Chris.

Big Bill, I agree with your feedback on the knong. I had one on my tj and hated the opening. I was thinking about one of the scale offroad hooks but they take a while to get here from Germany. I was hoping to get some other options. |

Not completely scale, but a modified S hook. It has a larger throat than the Kong and is pennies in a pack of 12 at the LHS. Wes |

Big fish hook works great. I think they are called treble hooks, cut the barbs off and it looks like a grappling hook and i havent found anything i cant hook to.
