Axial open diffs Hey all, I have a newb question. Is there an open diff kit for axial axles? Does anyone make one or has someone figured out a way. I planning a scale build using the 70 ford f100. Most farm trucks I know of do not have locked diffs. Maybe a posi tac in the rear, but front an rear locked diffs ...no.:lmao: I want the fun of wheeling an old beater farm truck, open diff 4wd FTW!!! Let me know? |
they do actually. Ill look for the part number, unless someone beats me to it |
Thanks. "thumbsup" |
I asked the same thing. This is what i found out. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/general-crawlers/292139-need-some-help-axial-part-s.html |
makes for a very fun rig!"thumbsup" |
i have a set of gears for an open/not locked diff some body gave my for a project i have on deck........bob .... |
The stock wheely king diff is open and it drops right in the axial housing, I have it in my Cherokee. It's fun for trails and also is easier on your drive train in most situations. |
Part#AXA30390 http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_25_1449_780/products_id/100213/n/Axial-Differential-Gear-Set Also need a pin/shaft 3 x 22 (2 pcs) part# AXA30170 this is what was in the AX-10 RTR Instruction manual page 36 |
Good for you! "thumbsup" I did this when I first got my SCX-10 I ran the rear end locked and left the front open.. Makes for a challenging time and what was once easy now takes the right touch of throttle and timing. I haven't run open diffs front and rear at the same time but someday I will, I have all the spare parts to make it happen. Good luck  |
the ax-10 rock racer/crawler came with an open or locked option. I have the open set in a ziplock. will see if i can find the axial part#. might be a good place to start looking. |
thanks to everyone for helping out. In my opinion open diffs really put the scale back into it. I mean how many "street rigs/class one rigs" run locked diffs in 1:1? Almost none, not none, but almost none. Most run limited slips, or arb style remote locking diffs. Now take our street class/ Class 1 rigs. How much more scale would the crawling be if you had limited slip, or remote locking diff? It would bring that class to a whole new level of scale crawling. Obviously the class 2 and 3 rigs would be fully locked! |
Will an axial diff hold in diff oil? |
