I noticed they sure do seem to perform way better once they've gotten some rash though, huh?
When the tires break in and lose the sharp edges there is more surface area per lug making contact . So if you ever buy a set of tires and dont like them right away break them in they could be your next favorite tire . Mud bogging is where you want to keep the cutting edge sharp so it bites hard

its not rock rash as such, but definitely a nicely worn pair of treads.

i want my treps to end up this worn before i replace them on my SCX10.

Looks like you did a massive burnout there.

Ever tried using steel wool to "wear" in the edges of the tire?

This is The best I have. Tires are fairly new and I don't really spin them much since most places I go are very hi grip

Vaterra slickrock tires on my CC01. nearly bald now... plus you can just make out the wear on my treps in this shot too

slightly off topic, those vaterra tires are pretty cheap. soft, but not grippy. pretty average really, even on grippy rock. wont be buying them again.

Bringing this back...always thought it was a cool thread. We've had over 4 years of tire compound and foam evolution since the last post. X2S3, Predator, Alien, Red... not to mention G8, R35, Ottsix B/S/G and Komp Kompound still kickin. Lets get this going again!
