Default Big Sleeper

I figure it's time i toss my rig in the mix. Heres what ive been working on for a while, I call it a "sleeper" because when im done with it, it should look like a regular 1:6 New bright truck. I posted this in the scale section, because im going for more of a scale truck then a maxx cralwer. Just because its not TLT doesnt mean it cant be scale . mods feel free to move to maxx section if you feel, it doesnt matter to me.

Heres what ive got so far, i figure id give u some B4 pics, some of the pics are bad, sorry i couldnt get the camera to focus on the right stuff.

ive been wantin to do a big scaler, and i love the E maxx tranny, and the way you can make these axles as wide or narrow as youd like with only about 30 min of time. After i built that 1:6 avalanche on kongs i realized i really wanted a more scale truck. so instead of digging into a perfect avalanche, i started on this.

the truck is actually about done, i just havent caught up on the pics. Ive got a nice little surprise for yall for a little extra flex. It acts somewhat like a relvolver shackle, and works GREAT

the receiver hitch is a very nice add on . now you just need a trailer to pull behind it with some bikes or a 4wheeler . i am not a hummer fan but i do like yours . great work !!!!!!!!!!!

Badd - thanks, ive got 2 matching nitro "air boats" that we race in the lake behind my house, i have plans to make a trailer for them

im NOT a hummer fan either i just built it because its the scalest 1:6 body i could find. I bought 3 of these a year osr so ago on ebay for like $30, i also got 3 CXTs on ebay for like $50. just need to keep an eye out.

the hummer SUV, chevy avalanche, and the ford off road addition are the only 1:6 trucks that new bright offers with opening hoods, doors, etc. all the others are just empty bodys. Yet luck would have it that they are no long made.

Nothing wrong with using 1/6 scale bodies and Maxx parts for a scale build

Beefy copper axles

My CNC guy is actually a student, and hasn't learned latheing yet. The head for the Mini-Savage is a lathe project, so that's still in the works. He does a hell of a job on the mill, though.

pics of the finished link and link mounts, you can see the lower link mounts are attached where the Emaxx shocks use to bolt to.

and the drive shaft is in, it all tucks up nicly under the body. the only thing that hangs down is the sub frame, which is only about 3/4" below the step bars

both axles are done, and mounted the exact same way for a balanced suspension. servos mounts are done, you can see the bullheads had to be notched for the tie rod to clear. (still waiting on the 645 servo to come in) I know I know ill trim off the extra crap on the servo mounts when i pull it apart for powdercoat. you can also see the lower part of the shock mounts

Click the image to open in full size.

Built some shock hoops, the top mount where the shocks bolt to are cut up stock maxx shock mounts. Just a way to keep things easyer, but still look fairly good.
