Default New XC owner; not many here, but just saying HI and some ???.

Not sure if this is the best place to post this but seems like the XC is more 'Scale Rigs' than the other boards here. More of a trail runner than a crawlere I guess. I have lurked here for a while now, wanting an XC, but not able to find one at my price range. Struggled with an MLST for a while, and had a pseudo-crawler VMG before that, but they were just not what I wanted...well...wannabe NO MORE I say!

I think I got a SWEET deal on this, and it should arrive tomorrow.

I suspect that with that 17t motor it will be way too fast, so a 45t is on the way (wanting a fast walking pace speed, not true crawler so maybe a 35t?). I was wondering (and I have done lots of searching) if anyone can point me to a good all around build up post? I want to do the front box hack-off, the front a-arm grind for better movement, and possibly a move to TLT shocks or 4 link (have seen Zillons post). I am thinking about using thick grease for a posi-trac effect, anyone do that? Any pitfalls to watch out for when first starting like weak points or maintainence aids? Any other 'must do' mods?

Does anyone know what those shocks are and if I should keep them?

Has anyone got these G-Made track width wideners? Any good?

Here are some thoughts...It seems odd to me that with as popular as these are, that are are almost no hopups for them . Where are our extended aluminum a-arms and dogbones, where is the kit 4-link, where is the CF chassis, where is the pile of gawdy blue anodized bling that is available for almost everything now (I hate bling btw, I'm just sayin...)? Tamiya seems to be waking up to the crawler/ scale phenomenon (witness the TLT and F350), you'd think they would be leveraging a unique cult status rig like this with some support. Same with GPM and the other big aftermarket companies.
