custom built mud truck.

Hows y'all doin? Hopefully all is grand. So I've been building 1:1 mud trucks for a long time now, and decided one day shoot, why not make an rc mud truck! I threw together some steel and made my first custom built truck. I took a bunch of pictures of the build as she grew, and here's a picture of the finished build.

I put a 2.2 tire under her so y'all can get an idea of her size.

I really enjoyed makin the build, and figured why not build another but this time copy a frame design. So I looked at some of my 1:1 frame designs and picked one that would work best for an rc. It's gonna be a long build cause I'm tryin to make it as scale as possible.

Please feel free to comment, ask questions, and feel free to add suggestions.

Here is the frame side plate I welded.

This is where the battery, motor, and trans will sit.

And here's the body and wheels she'll be wearin.

She's gonna be wearin Clod wheels and tires on Wheelyking axles with dual Wheekyking shocks on each wheel. She may look like a Clod when she's all built, but that's alright.

I stopped at my local rc shop and bought me some threaded rod to make some custom links that'll I'll be throwin on tomorrow.

So have a good day all, and thanks for checkin her out. More to come soon.

Wow! Like the mockup. Are you keeping the axles locked or open? And...

Prepare for broken drivetrain parts on anything but smooth dirt! Lol.

As of now, the axles are locked. But that could change after shes all built and a few runs are under her belt. I may just keep the rear locked and have the front open.

I'm not to worried bout breakin drivetrain parts. That's half the fun with mud trucks, they break and get upgraded. If the destruction gets a bit out of hand, I'll just have to come up with somethin. I've got access to a machine shop at my work, and the boys there can whip up some mighty nice things.

I made up a radiator yesterday, it's not done yet but the heart of it is completed.

I also have different Clod body I'll be using. The red body is to beat up.
Here's the cowl and radiator on the newer body.

Made a mighty purchase yesterday to get the ball rollin on this pig. Here's a picture of ma goodies.

http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/...614_150703.jpg

It ain't the greatest picture, so I'll run down what I got.

Set of shocks for an HPI Savage. They're longer then the Wheely King shocks.
Springs for the shocks, cause Ima not diggin the purple lol.
Aluminum bumper from ESP.
Gear set for the Wheely Kings transgo.
Wheel adapters to fit the 14mm wheels to my 12mm axles.
RPM wheels.
MGT tires, they're larger then the Clod, but more narrow. Which will be helpful in they won't rub on the links.
Velineon 3500 brushless motor. I'm not sure if it'll go into this rig, Ima still thunkin 'bout it.

Ima chompin at the bit to get started, but with fathers day comin up I'm gonna be busy with family activities and whatnots. So hopefully Monday I'll have some more ta show y'all.

Thanks for checkin it out, and HAPPY FATHERS DAY to all the dads out there.
