Default Hi-lift shocks?

So I am curious if you could take the spring outta the hi-lift shocks and stretch it to create a load bearing spring? Smart? Stupid? THoughts? Ideas?

Either I don't get it, or because it's a spring, it can already suspend weight. It's not super stiff, but it'll support some weight.

Pulling it out of there gives you about 3/4 inch of extra flex with a 6-pound rig, so it seems that each spring already supports about a pound. Stretching it might give you more, but I'll bet they'd do pretty well on a lightweight TLT rig straight from the box. Most of the weight is in the tires anyway
