I'd say try them before you mod them. From what I've seen and heard, they won't need the mod. Since they are plastic, I'd hate to see you ruin a really nice set of springs. Please try them before you mod them.

What did you use to mod those? A dremel? How hard was it to do? I have heard that these leaf spring metals are a very hard compound. I definatly want to do this to mine.

He said in an earlier post that you could use a dremel, grinder, or a file. Just dont get them too hot as it might change the temper of the metal.

Hey chino, If I just make the eyes oval, without shaving them, will that keep them strong, without loosing some flex?

The leaf spring should not twist/tilt at the spring eye ends
fitted to the shackle/mount.

Orbit Eye's will allow for this...
but they aren't DOT approved for street legal rigs.
and in fact... are harder on the leaf springs
and will reduce their consumable life/use.

For trailer toted rigs used only off road...
Orbit Eyes work great... but leaf spring wear will be accelerated.

another way to do it. oldschool traxxas rod ends mounted to the longest helper leaf in the tamiya spring pack. drill the hole and bend the end of the leaf 90 degrees, then screw the traxxas rod ends on. buttery smooth.

ive done 2 sets this way, works pretty damn good imo. had a friend try it and break the springs trying to bend them, but i think those were rc4wd springs not tamiya.

Wow nice flexy tricks. The bruiser rear is like linked with to irons under the rear axel. i put out one screw from the front fixed spring hanger so it can a bit "linked" this helps a lot for me for more rear suspension flex.
