Question hidden hardbody body mount system? what you got?

ive always used velcro and a flat plate across the shock towers. but looking for something different. still prefer velcro and easy to use over body pins. but maybe a flip top/hinged body? or maybe a velcro plate but with a locating/centering post/pin. open to anything really

looking for any and all pics of hidden hardbody mounts for some new ideas to use on my JK

I use Velcro between the shock towers and either more Velcro or a few small screws that screw into tabs on the sliders.

On my hilux the radiator support and the floor bolt to the frame just like a 1:1. There isn't anything scale about velcro.

I'm wondering about this too, for my CC01 Jeep and some of my 1/10 touring cars which I've just bought interiors for.

On some vehicles it seems the best thing may be to have the interior fixed to the chassis, then the bodyshell (lexan) could be velcro'd onto the interior...

My New Bright Jeep I think will be mounted with a hinge on the back somewhere, it'll be crude though, probably with a step screw or something, as I'm not very good at that kind of thing!

I wonder if some strong magnets would work.

I went with true type body mounts for my clod body build....in this picture you can see how I mounted them to the frame, plus made to hold the steel roll bars in both cab and bed to the frame....

I can get some better pictures you ya want, just say so ....

Here's what I did on my H2,

These are on the front and rear of the frame:

Holes drilled into the floor at the back where you can't see them inside, body clips holding them in with some thin foam to make them fit snug:

And the tall SUV body mount from Axial cut down and drilled to fit the front support of the body behind the grille and bumper:

And how it sits when all is said and done:

Similar to velcro, I use this 3m dual lock stuff. Holds something like 2lbs/in. A couple pieces of this and you can easily pick the truck up by the body without shifting the body placement. I use it for my electronics too. Can find small packages at any department store or pharmacy.

3M Dual Lock Reclosable Fasteners-Shop 3M

I think some guys use rare earth magnets glued to the body/chassis.

I used crazy rare earth magnets (neodymium) that I got on fleabay mounted on servo posts, then the other is mounted to the interior of my NB JK using m3 hardware.

now thats unique! mostly i like that it doesnt use body pins or screws. thats what im after. simple pull on pull off like velcro ive been using.
how is front to rear body movement?

its nonexistent. Now if I drive like crap and crash head first into something that the bumper doesnt protect against it will slide back just a hair, but once the pressure is released it snaps back into place. To avoid this from happening, besides driving better, is I have two screws hard mounted to the stock New Bright Body posts. A couple turns of the wrench and the body is fixed into place. If I were just trail riding and careful I wouldn't even worry about the body coming off. I mean I can pick the darn thing up from the body and it doesnt come separated. I could of added more magnets but this is sufficient. Will try to get a few more pics for ya =)

Do the magnets start to accumulate ferrous particles? I figure the same stuff that kicks up and sticks to the motor will also stick to the body mounts. Non issue?

They do pick up some ferrous particles but they are easily cleaned since the particles are usually on the surfaces that are not in contact with one another, just on the outside.

Thanks Guys, its hard to find the information you need with the search engine (even using the specifications) These gave me a good look into how to mount my D90 onto my SCX10. I have been trying to think of how to do it.

do magnets that strong interfere with anything electronic on the rig? like if you had boatside/flanking electronics somewhat nearby?

A plate, Velcro, and a centralising pin, hole to keep body centre.

On the H3 truck I used a rear hinge and flipped the body mounts over and used a reverse style post mount up front. It worked great.

I don't really care for Velcro much. On my JK8 I used a opening hood and just affixed the body to the chassis. I used this "bridge" for the front and made a few L brackets for the rear. So far this setup has worked out really well for me. I've tried the magnets before, and they're OK unless you suck at driving like I do. The magnets didn't work out well for me on rough terrain at high speeds.

Have easily put 20+ hours on the rig and no adverse electronic interference so far.

Magnets still holding strong too, rig is easily 8lbs or more and I can pick it up from the body/roof and the chassis doesnt separate.

Yeah if youre a speed demon and like 'moving' boulders with your rig then magnets may not be the best choice. With the 4 magnets I have now it'll take a serious roll/crash for the body to separate from the chassis. Im sure if I added more magnets then the problem would be less....however the body would also be that much harder for me to remove when I need to swap batteries lol.
