Default Feedback needed concerning wheels!

I'm kicking around the possibility of offering up made to order 1.9 & 2.2 delrin beadlock wheels. They will be made to your width and backspacing specs and will use your slw style hubs, Axial compatible rings, and hardware. I will be making and selling only the wheel portion. These are aimed at those wanting a particular size/offset for a custom build, or for those that already have hubs but maybe not the wheel offset they want.

Wheel width can be anywhere from as skinny as 1/2" and as fat as 3".

Minimum order is 4, max is however many you need.

Backspacing/offset can be anywhere within the edges of the wheel.

Wheels will have 6 holes per side for the beadlock rings, drilled and tapped to the size you want. 12 or 18 holes will be optional. Brass inserts are also optional.

I currently offer hub bolt spacing for VP or Gearhead patterned hubs. If interest is high enough I can offer patterns for other brands.

The same goes for beadlock rings. There are tons of available (stock and aftermarket) rings for the Axial wheels, and that is the bolt pattern I would offer. Like the hubs, I can match other patterns if the interest is high enough.

So what will the wheels look like? That depends. Because I do not have a cnc machine I cannot do complex designs, so think round holes and straight lines. I'm still drawing different options, and there will be different price ranges depending on complexity. There will also be an option for flat, radius, and contoured faces.

Some examples of the basic wheels (drawn as 2.2s...1.9s will differ slightly):

You could also have a solid or slotted wheel. More options will come as I think of them or as they are suggested.

Thoughts and suggestions?

Example of a finished 2.2 wheel using Shifts hubs and MThead rings.

I would buy a set since I could make my own design and just to have a extra set of wheels

I'm loving the mounted wheel!! I'll be interested in knowing what the price is per pair or per set.

Yeah I like the style #3... that's the one pictured with the tire mounted right? Just push the face into the wheel a little deeper... and in 1.9 size.

That's the idea. The target audience is those that already have rings and/or hubs and want another set of wheels to use them on, or those that want a custom offset or width that they might not be able to find elsewhere.

I'm still hashing out the pricing. A set of 4 basic wheels will easily be less than a bill, but remember that these are not mass produced and made one set at a time to your specs, so they won't be dirt cheap.

Yep, that's #3.

The same wheel with an inset radius around the edge.

I've got an idea for a double faced wheel, centered backspacing, flat faced one side and radius on the other side, same wheel with two different looks.

That's totally fine with me! I'm willing to pay a little extra for basically a one off wheel set, built by hand and from a vendor.

I would want the #3 wheel with a positive offset inset radius face and then have the hub pattern drilled out for a SLW hub.

How well does it hold a bead for say a soft PitBull or R35 Axial tire?

If you are ready for a set, hit me with a pm. We'll discuss.

With the delrin rings and only 6 bolts I was able to pull a R35 Ripsaw out of the bead, but I was pulling really, really hard. I would imagine that an aluminum ring would hold the bead better. Even so, unless you are going to expose them to race car speeds I don't think they'd let go. I was hoping to give mine a good test today out on the rocks, but a chance of rain (that never came ) kept me at home.

Wouldn't those work? I thought you said you were drilling for standard?

I can drill for whatever you want, but standard pitch holds plastic better than metric.

The screws you linked to are standard pitch, but their length is listed in mm for some reason.
