Looking at your big slick rocks reminded me of something I worked with once teaching a demo at Lowe's: Hypertufa.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypertufa

Essentially it's concrete with organic material as the filler instead of sand or rock. Because it's less alkaline, it weathers and darkens more like natural rock. Also, since it's very porous, moss grows on it very easily. I figured a fellow moss enthusiast might benefit from this information.

I’ve worked with that before. I built some gnome houses and things around my yard with it. If I ever do a different area not attached to Smiggin’s I’d like to build some rocks from it. I’m afraid they wouldn’t match the rest of it if I did it now.

also i have some natural moss in my backyard proving ground too. its too hot now and died off but it should come back in the cooler months. and yes its very MOSSome hahaha

the concrete boulders are incredible! great solution to "how do i get a 400 pound rock half buried in my yard?"
I saw that! I saw the original documentary a while ago when it used to be on Netflix. I don’t think it’s there anymore.

Marwencol is no longer on Netflix streaming (still on DVD—I might be the only remaining Netflix DVD subscriber), but there are some beautiful mid-century cars and trucks in Elgin Park, another miniature town. A 10 minute short about it is on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upwy...t=WL&index=102

Scenes from Pappy's youth, perhaps? I bet he was a greaser.

Stay gold, Pappy.

This was really fun to look at! Very fun addition to the yard. My daughter would probably use it with her dolls lol. Really fun!
I thought you’d like this guys YouTube channel. He does model railroad stuff but I’m sure many of the techniques apply to what you’re doing
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjR...74mTg1vrQ6uA5A

Also I know you had mentioned no stream/pond in the plans. This came to mind and thought it might change your mind since you don’t need a pond, almost no maintenance but you get the running water!

They had to dig quite the pit for that thing. I’ll check out that channel, thanks for the link!

Little mash in that pot, and some heat, and you'll make enough to fill a shot glass

Yes I will be. It can’t be left alone for very long before it falls apart.

Had some high winds

The buildings are aging well. Will need some repairs in the spring.

Hey n00b not trying to thread jack but my moss is back!
My son took this pic of his truck in our backyard today.

Also I was at hobby lobby today... Not sure if you have those up there but they had a cool corn silo for a table centerpiece.
I will see if I can find a pic...

Noob what an awesome crawler course I was looking to get some inspiration for mine and found it in spades. For your bridge what width are the pieces for the railing I was debating .5" poplar and painting it but wasn't sure if that would be too large or small for a railing. Also I love the rules sign guess I need to start looking for a hard body cause that's great.

Take it easy
Jay

Love the garden railway that looks all sorts of sweet! Before opting to put a crawler area behind the patio a G scale railroad crossed my mind.
