I'm pretty stoked on this, would prefer a kit. But any new RC in this hobby is good to me. Looks like HPI really did their homework.

Wish they were CVDs.

What is max turning angle? CVDs available and what would turning angle be with CVDs?

No, Ascender with factory CMS and CVDs has awesome steering angle!

I also wish they were CVDs, but working within a target cost.

32deg
CVDs possibly 40 to 45deg

We all have wish lists, but I'm sure something has to give somewhere unless you want a $600 up front cost. Then we would all be upset with that. I'm glad they got the big stuff in there, I still like to upgrade stuff anyway.

Dogbones are sturdy.

I just hope that the steering angle is limited so that you don't break the c-hubs or knuckles when the dogbone binds. And now comes the important bit: the limiter should be easy to remove when we get CVDs.

Besides SCX is the platform to beat and it comes with dogbones.

So far, this looks to be the first of the true next generation home run scale rigs. The Vaterra is a nice truck, but really isn't that far of a departure from the SCX. This truck really seems to bring some awesome new blood to the design. Couldn't be more excited to start playing with one.

Sturdy, sure but limited steering angle with them.

SCX way outdated platform...Ascender beat that in several ways straight from the factory. Much tighter steering angle, high-steer knuckles, kingpin inclination (better steering), steel CVDs, interlocking frame pieces, cross braced shock towers, LCG forward battery tray, small scale diff pumpkins, hardened steel gears in tranny and axles (not pot-metal and plastic like Axial), CMS, available two-speed conversion, stronger bumper mounting system...

Your idea of removable dogbone travel limiters is nice...wore out one of my Hitec 7950s with an SCX trail repair dogbone setup that I used, was too lazy to limit my steering and got rewarded in a bad way for this lol.

What else can you tell us about the sweet new HPI Venture Toyota FJ Body Scaler? I love the divorced transfer case, the forward mounted LCG tranny and chassis just begging for a full interior...would that be an HPI option?

Going to get a preorder in on this the second pricing is available.

Is the body going to be available clear? I'd love to get one with my kit and paint it up in Quicksand to match my real truck! Well done HPI, very well done.

Kit !
And what are the other body options ?
Really not a fan of that FJ , 1:1 or 1:10 , awful styling.
I'd love to see a 60 or 70 series Toyota or a Nissan Patrol , old school straight axle work horses.

I posted pictures, links and info on this truck over at the FJ Cruiser forum I'm active on which is the largest FJ community on the web. There is a lot of excitement and interest in this truck. Guys are clamoring for release date and price, I told them all that I will update once available, hopefully that comes out soon. Looks like this truck will be introducing RC to a whole new group of enthusiasts which is awesome and how this hobby will continue to grow.
