Default Another Rookie Scratch build V2.0

Well, we knew this would happen.
Ya build one tiny truck, ya gotta build another.

I was going to build an RC4WD Blazer based tow truck.
After a few adult beverages, I decided to go another route.

As usual, I scoured the interwebs, and found a decent profile. Not the "correct" truck, but it'll do.
SOP at this point, paste the drawing, cut it out....TO THE BANDSAW!!!

and I sanded...

...and made a few pieces to hold them apart...

Made a roof...

the coolest way I've found to transfer lines, is with a compass...

Before we get too far, WILL IT WORK? I need some inspiration!!

Bored with the front. Let's start with the rear for a minute...

Better shot of my rear end. "Do these duals make my rear look big??"

here's two for the road...

The "grill" is not glued. Just two-sided-taped into place. I'm waiting for material before I go down "permanent" street. But, I think it's close enough for now...

CHEERS!!

That is some great fab work. This is looking good will be following the build. Like to see what accessories you will be adding for scale.

Thanks rere and mike. I'm not sure about accessories just yet.

Well, thanks to "Lasership" I have no styrene for the weekend.
No styrene, no printer filament, no light buckets...
They say "delivery was attempted."
I call shenanigans. I was home all day, and outside most of the day.
No one even "attempted" to come down my driveway.

I'm a little miffed....(can you tell??)

Rant over, on with the show.

I focused mainly on the rear. I made the inner fender/wheel wells, and started to cover the rear shock towers. Made the rear "bumper" and front-of-the-fender steps. (I took a few artistic liberties)
Reinforced the crap outta the bottom side of the wrecker box.

That is a bad azz build, amazing skills, and for your second attempt, very straight and the lines are spot on!

Thank you...Probably less than the current standards require...

So, I glued all the pieces for the grill....
but, now I can see through it!!

That's no good.
I decided to try one of those "Zip Tie" radiators things...

ok....I like where this is going....

After a bit of paint....yeah, why not??

Well, it's super tough to take pics of a radiator in a tiny truck, nd get any detail.. Bummer.
It looks better in person.
...stupid cameras....

The core support/radiator is taped in for now.
But I can't see though it anymore.
That makes me happy.

meh, different. Soft. But, my experience with styrene is still somewhat limited...
BUT, I did find out that MEK will play nice with BOTH styrene AND Sintra...
How cool is that???

Thanks...
I'll see what I can do about the request for elevation.

So I started off with the bumper...
Because I wanted to mount the cab, err. something...

But, I think I got distracted....
And took this pic.
I don't remember why...

So, I made this.
I just couldn't stop...
I took a few artistic liberties.
It'll be ok.
"Artists" are allowed such nonsense.

Everyone loves a close up!!!

More to come...
Same bad time, same bad channel.
^if you got that joke....well...
(you know)

You have some seriously Mad Skills!

I'll be checking my local plastic outlet for Sintra. Then when I can't reproduce your quality, I'll light it on fire and bury it in the back yard.

This stuff doesn't produce toxic smoke does it?
