Thank you.
I made it look like a tow truck on purpose.
But, this is only the third truck I've built!!

This stuff doesn't produce toxic smoke does it?
Not unless you burn it???
I'm not sure. I didn't read the instructions... They might say "don't build tiny trucks with this stuff."
I can't have that...

Picture time?
I got a better shot of the "radiator."
I'm not sure why, it just happened...

And I worked on the boom rigging.
I still need to work on the other side, but...

Oh yeah, I added the lower windshield "framing"

Radiator shot turned out pretty cool, could see the trans cooler as well. Great looking build, that boom has got a lot going on. How are you going to top this build once you finish and move on to 3.0?

Top this??
I haven't really thought about it. I'll have to move on to more difficult builds....
Something like gassers.

I think I got the hoist winch and rigging to a point where I'm happy with it.
For now.

Here's a close up of the crank.
(of course it really works!!!)

I might make a little "box" to hide the winch and I need to make the lower bumper sling "stinger(?)" and mounts. (I know it's not called a stinger, but I'm not sure what it's really called!!)

But for now, I think the bed is kinda done....

Progress....
I decided to check out a few things....

Yup....It works!!

Will it lift a crawler?
Prolly not.

Front bumper got some shaping....

And I added a bit more details (yes, plural) to the rear.

And winch control levers that resemble ones found on a certain "rollback" build...
Thank you for the idea, sir!!

Body mounts are pretty much dialed in, but I may need to shift a few things around.
Next, will to do something about the lack of interior.
...and windows...

My ex-father-in-law had an old '71 Chevy cab'd tow rig (with a baby-blue cab), you're spot-on with this one. NICE job!
Yours is straighter and cleaner than his was, he was kinda rough on his.

Building tiny trucks is medication....in a sense.

It won't be clean for long...

I got the bumper kinda where I want, but now it has a rake to it.
Like a cow catcher on an old locomotive.
Neat, but not what I'm after. I'll have to fix that.

I still haven't decided if I'll make the boom longer. I might just run this one until it breaks.

Oh, and there's this.
It's just taped in place for now, but I think I like the fitment and position.
Gotta add the center section of the dash, like AM radio, heater controls, etc...
Pics of this dash are hard to find.
I imagine the ignition goes on the dash, not the column....right?

Google, here I come!!

Yes, I believe the ignition on my '72 GMC was under and right of the cluster, on the metal dash, next to the heater/defroster controls. The radio was on top, an ashtray in the middle, and the heater/defroster control on the bottom

Of course I need to still add the gauge faces, but you get the idea.

I threw some paint at it.
Well, actually, primer. It just so happens that "red Oxide" is the finish color.
I was disturbingly "chocolatey" when wet. It seems to have "reddened," or "oxidized."
I like it..

Still haven't tried the "salt technique?" This is my best one yet!

Still much more to do...

I've been tinkering a little bit here and there....

I threw a bit more paint at it. And now, I think most will recognize the truck.
Or maybe I'm just old.

Anyway, I ran into a bit of an issue with the "salt technique."
I sprayed the second color today, and the humidity is at 95%.
The salt holds moisture, so my paint will be a little bit rougher than I had planned.
More patina is better though, right?

I have to wait until the paint fully cures and the salt dries before I can pick away at the salt.

Bummer.

Anyway, here's a what it looks like now.

CHEERS!!

Looks great. Coming together so fast too. More patina the better. I am going to do some rusting today to take advantage of the high humidity. Crappy conditions help if you want crappy paint.

More patina it is!!
I got the first layer of wash down, more surely will follow.
It helps to "wash" in layers, if you want the grime to look layered.

I have a few places that need to be touched up, but I'm in no hurry.

This

One of these days, I'll have to fire up the airbrush, and throw a bit of...orange at it.
Maybe a touch of sandy-off-white-grey too...

And some green? Maybe???

Geez, where does the time go?

I almost can't remember where I left off with this one.

Made a seat. Another crappy 2D interior.
Made a gumball for the bed.

I made some mirrors, and spot mirrors.

I think they turned out swell...
...and there's one HELUVA reflection!!

Someone wants to go for a ride!!

On the short list of things to do, windshield...inner fenders...
Stay tuned.

Very nice Hangover, great job on the mirrors , are they polished metal, or actual mirrors?
