Bob that looks great! I am still waiting for my servo to come in. I opted for a replacement and went ahead and ordered a Hi-Tec 645MG. I will let you guys know what I think once it's back together. -M |

Hello, was wondering if you could tell us if the replacement servo is the same as stock or a different creature? Appreciate any information you can pass along to the rest of us. Thank you.

From what I have read it's a little different, little more torque. But you can get better servos for cheap that will fit. |

| Re: 1.9 Barrage RTR 1/10 Crawler yup what Hillbilly said..... Just buy any waterproof hi torque servo and slap it in there with some standoffs to clear the shocks. I used a Traxxas Hi torque with no issues. Used Dubro 1/8 wheel collars as standoffs as they are cheap and readily available. Used some 3mm x 18mm dubro cap screws to mount it up

My rgt has a weak servo but didn't really notice it until I put some trepadros on it, my stock tires are a knock off flat iron and about 4.19 in size the treps are in believe 4.6. So I will be getting a better servo at some point but right it's torn down waiting for parts. |

Picking up a Barrage this week. Want to get an upgraded servo for it when I get it. Any recommendations on servos and things I should check before driving? This is my first hobby level rc car as I am coming from fpv racing drones. Need something for my off season and the barrage looks fun. Sent from my SM-G920T using Tapatalk |

I think the Barrage is underrated because of the ugly body, the chassis work well for a RTR truck .The truck have front and rear light in stock and the electrics are waterproof. There are no lights or waterproof electronics on my Losi MRC and its way more expensive. But i like my 3 year old Losi MRC in stock only i change the servo and after three years of "hard use" i breake two plastic lockers .One in the rear and one in the center .I run my Losi with three different bodys :Wheely King stock body,Toyota Tundra hardcase and Speed Pal Samurai Lexan.I take my Losi as a "spare Truck" if something breakes on my SCX ,to save fun for the day and the Losi never fail ha ha. I think the Barrage can also "save your day with fun"!

So the Hitec 645MG is in my hands. It looks about right but I was too excited to get my other rig running to get it together. Its on the agenda for tomorrow and I will report back. I figure at Rx voltage it should have twice the torque. -M |

I dropped a Hitec HS5645MG into my Barrage with a CC BEC set at 6 volts. The steering is strong and fast now. The servo is rated at 168 oz @ 6 volts so I should be good to go now. The plastic steering linkage is a little weak so I'd like to eventually replace it with an aluminum link, either store bought or home made. |

| Re: 1.9 Barrage RTR 1/10 Crawler Ugly is a little harsh but I would agree it is a bit homely in stock form. I sprayed my fenders, rockers and bed with spray on bed liner and the black accents really improved the overall looks. Adding a few accessories and mirrors goes along way too. I also swapped the stock rubber for PL Faultline beadlocks and DC Mud Country tires. The slightly smaller tire looks a bit better IMO. I really like the way my Barrage looks now. Alright I got the servo swap finished. I was able to use the stock servo; they are both 24 tooth splines but my original was stripped. I is much taller as you can see but very narrow so I had no problems getting it to work. I did trim the plastic around where the servo lead exits. The torque is noticeably stronger. I will put it through its paces on Saturday. -M Last edited by THX_138; 01-21-2017 at 10:46 AM. |

I just now saw your response to my question and have no idea why I did not get an e-mail notification of same. Well, there it is just as you said, but I did not realize I needed to remove the steering knuckle to see it. For now I will keep them in place with a drop of CA medium glue on each side. I am not going to pull those knuckles if I do not have to do so. Thank you for showing me those tiny set screws. Quote: OK, Bob. You showed me the little screws, and I am a believer. However, I have no idea of what to do with these two fixes. Those fixes are more difficult for me to understand than I am able to manage at this point. I recognize, however, that your fixes may come in handy at a later date, so I intend to keep a record of same for future reference. Thank you again for your valuable info. Best wishes, Dave Wile Last edited by THX_138; 01-21-2017 at 10:44 AM. | |

The drive shaft fix is needed for mine with the bigger axles unless I stretch it out which isn't an option. Can't get the right pinion angle with stock driveshafts.
