Default 1/10 scale r/c RZR 900

Hello everyone. This isn't my first time on this forum. I've been around but not active for some time. Recently finished up a cool little project I've been working on and i wanted to share.

So I've been in the r/c crawler game since the release of the OG ax10 scorpion kit in 2007. I've had several crawlers over the years, axial and recently a few vaterras. Actually hoping the wife buys me the new scx10 2 for christmas haha.

I started experimenting with 3/16" solid stock and a harbor freight mig welder to make my own custom roll cages and buggies about 3 years ago, i recently decided to take on the challenge of building a scale RZR. i have a full size 2016 RZR 900 XC.

i started with a 1/10th scale on road car chassis the vaterra v100 for the simple fact its 4wd, had upper and lower control arms, and largely because it looked the most like the RZR suspension as it was. i based the scale of the chassis off of a set of rc4wd 1.55 stamped steel wagon wheels and the rc4wd rock stomper tires. some other things i used to figure out the size i was going for were a set of wraith seats and rc4wd 70mm shocks.

i built a frame to mount the front and rear differentials and suspension components to and the rest is self explanatory. weld bits of metal together till it looked like an RZR hahahaha....

i don't have a ton of pics of the build process mainly because i just forget to stop and take any but this is the project from start to end over about a two month time span. most of this I've just copped over from the thread on my rzr forum.

i think it came out nice so thought id share haha thanks for checking it out.

i took it back apart to finish welded the cage and start to clean it up. It weighs 2lbs as it sits. Which is pretty good. was looking to be around 5/6lbs total when completed which is normal for a 1/10th scale crawler.

the Finish welded chassis. Cleaned up all the welds and sand blasted it. did a final test fit of the suspension and it was off to paint. Then I started on the interior and body panels.

Eventually ended up with some SSD wheels because they look just like an after market deadlock wheel for the RZR made by a company Method Racing. Also the rc4wd 1.9" Tomahawks which very closely resemble the stock GBC dirt commanders that come stock on the RZR.

nice cage work !

but I have to say the seats look a bit too small in that chassis
or the finished chassis is actually larger then 1:10 scale ?

looks more like 1:7 - 1:6 maybe.

Possibly I have it all wrong...
Got a picture of it next to a 1:10 scale crawler ?

---------------------

I used an 1:16 scale RedCat Everest chassis
along with a 1:6 scale quad body fitted.
To end up with a near 1:6 scale quad.

I think it's fairly accurate to what a 1:6 scale quad might look like.
or at least it scales proportionally to that of my 1:6 GI Joe.

Here's my 1:6 TJ Jeep, M100 trailer and quad combo...

Here's comparison of my 1:10 scale SCX-10 Honcho next to my 1:6 scale stuff...

Thanks. Yea, the seats are defiantly too small. Compared to a 1:10th crawler it is big.

It's probably more like a 1/5th to be honest.

It ended up a bit larger over all that I had hoped but I built it off of the 1.55" wheel and tire combo I had so that's where it all fell haha.

That quad is cool. Nice work on that.
