Moved to Scaler... cough. Huge blobs of hot glue mixed with CA tire glue then velcro straps and then screwed down with drywall screws works for me. Last edited by EeePee; 05-17-2017 at 12:59 PM. |

I use E6000 glue, as it stays flexible. 3M double sided tape. Zipties. Velcro. |

My tamiya cc01 Fjc, as far as scale accessories: Glass cloth rolled to simulate a towel or sleeping bag ( came with my tacoma when I bought it) Shovel, Rake, and Stomped ($2.99 @ Micheals) Gas can and toe shackles ($15.00 wish.com) Roof Rack w/ working lights ($20.00 wish.com) Steel boards ($0.57 each home depot) Zippo Case (not shown) used as tool box. Mini blue tooth speaker ($20.00 best buy) black box at the top strapped down with gopro straps. My way of thinking outside the box, budgeting. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk |

IMO it all depends on what surface material they're being mounted to... and whether they will remain static or be removable - re-positioned on occasion. I think using hot glue is good for most temporary and light weight accessories. E6000 if it needs be a stronger bond to plastic surfaces. For re-positioning or quick removal... I use tiny magnets and a steel (thin) plate for the hold/re-positioning. ie: my dog utilizes magnets in its paw(s) and a thin steel plate in the bed to allow for position changes or removal. The fuel cans were hot glued temporarily in the hauler's bed... but have since been removed and were relocated to inside the trailer. And I utilize home made bungee cords to hold down my quad to the trailer. Hot glue works for temporarily securing other static accessories inside the trailer's bed, underneath the quad... I've yet to have the quad's bungee mounting fail, even during a flop - roll. Bottom line... utilize any of the several methods that can get it done. A single type of mounting method generally will not suffice for every accessory mounted. But the hot glue use is quickest and easiest for a short term hold. E6000 holds stronger but takes longer to dry. The hot glue seems easiest to remove from contact points. And will absorb less if dealing with absorbent cloth mountings. Velcro works okay.... but excessive ambient temps tend to find the Velcro's adhesive backing can fail on occasion (too hot or too cold). So be sure the surface it is attached to is cleaned and oils are removed. An alcohol wipe cleans/removes surface oils fairly well. I'd suggest trying hot glue first... if that fails... try another method. |
