Default Vaterra Ascender axles on a SCX10 II chassis

Has anyone put Ascender axles on a SCX10 II chassis?

I'm wanting to do a RC4WD Mojave LWB 4 door body on a SCX10 II chassis. The Vaterra Ascender axles can easily be narrowed up to 12mm (6mm per side) by just narrowing the housings.
I would like to use the SCX10 II chassis over the Ascender chassis mainly because of the aftermarket support.

I'm asking mainly wanting to know what I needed to do for the links, and getting the CMS on the SCX10 II to work with the panhard mount on the Ascender axles.

Thanks in advance!

I tried putting the Ascender axles under my GCM Skeleton and noticed the link mount locations were a little narrower than SCX10 axles. If I mounted the shocks in their intended location on the axle, they hit the chassis so they have to be mounted outside of the link mount tab. I don't remember many other issues than that with the axles.

Will you be using the Ascender or SCX transmission? Getting the overall gear ratio down to an appropriate level is tricky with Ascender axles and an Axial trans. You need like 7:1 gearing (about 64/10 in 32P) on the pinion/spur to get below 30:1 in the overall range when the axle gear reduction is about half that of the SCXII. Using the Vaterra trans or a transfer case with some gear reduction makes things a lot easier.

The worst part will be the combination of vaterra axles and an axial transmission. The axial trans provides far less reduction than the vaterra ones and the vaterra axles have a much lower ratio than ar44 axles.

Why not just use the Acender chassis and tranny with the Ascender axles? With Vaterra you don't NEED lots of aftermarket parts to make it durable.

I'm still leaning towards using the Ascender roller that I have now.
I do like the fact of being able to easily narrow the Ascender axles. I also think the Ascender is a better rig than the SCX10 platform, out of the box.

Yeah, I think I'm going stay with my Ascender roller. There's going to be too much involved with the whole gear reduction thing. I want to make this build as painless as possible. Hahaha!!
