Another Toyota Hilux body... whee.

Apologies to everyone who likes them, but I could go for a bit more variety :)

Why? Toyotas are the bestest.

I am still waiting for an 05-11 2nd gen body to turn up.

The Thunder Tiger is 1/12th scale, listed at $219... 380 motor.

They have a video that shows it in action, looks quite capable - runs completely submerged at one point.

Personally, I'm not interested in 1/12th though - I'd prefer a MSX, Deadbolt or the upcoming HPI even at $60-$90 more.

They need to, but the classic Toyota lines look better to me. 1st gen Tacos and older are the best looking Yoders to me.

I'm more interested in what's below the throw away cheap body of the Thunder Tiger. The lines of it look 'off' a little and it resembles a cheap copy. It's got a little bit of the old Datsun shape to it.

Any one of the classic Land Cruisers from the 70 series Pigs down to the old J20 would have been better, IMO. Or please the new generation owners and use the current square fendered Tacomas.

It looks really small, but I already wouldn't know how a 1/12th crawler should look, looks smaller than the barrage

It looks small but is supposed to. I can deal with that to be able to use static model bodies as long as the rest of it is a solid platform.

Is it just me, or is the rear bumper crooked in every shot from the rear?

This Thunder Tiger body looks very toy grade to my eye. Certainly doesn't hold a candle to hard bodies on the TF2. I also agree the original Toyota pickup and the first gen's set the bar for Toyota's. That said my 1:1 is an 08, so one day I will need to recreate it in 1:10.

Any specs revealing the wheelbase on this Thunder Tiger?

225mm - from their site:

Re: Thunder Tiger anybody

with that length it might actually fit under a Marui Big Bear shell giving one of the rare ways to make a Nissan/Datsun 720 pickup scaler...

Amen! Jeeps and Toyotas. I'm sick of them as are many others.

Those brands must have cheap licensing fees or something.

I could happily go with a nice Bronco II or smaller Ranger from the late 80's, a larger then cc-01 square headlight wrangler or older cj, older dodges, nissan/datsun trucks or a pathfinder... or any of the endless of possibilities of truck that is not a Jeep JK based or a Toyota. Variety makes nice blog photos ;)

If only Tamiya would build a proper scaler Chassis that would fit under the Brat/ Ranger/ Midnight Pumpkin/Lunchbox shells. Also rework those bodies & the Isuzu Mu/ Amigo, or Pajero to better accept lights & such.

Re: Thunder Tiger anybody

^^^ Agreed, except for me the strong urge come over me when I look at Lowride Pumpkin bodies - I don't care for the bed design of the Midnight version, with the protruding boxes and rollbar.

Anybody know what size the wheels are? I hope 1.55...
I have googled and watched like 5 unboxing vids but everyone just says "oh neat wheels!"

The MST CMX and CFX fit CC01 bodies, are the above bodies similar size?
