| What would you do?
Everyone, My son is getting to that age where he is becoming very interested in my RC trucks. I'm fixing to either buy, or build up a chassis I have for him. My question, if you had to choose between SCX10 chassis that was is built minus Electronics, shocks, metal links and a body or the new Redcat Everest Gen 7 which would you choose? Of course I'd get the parts and Electronics to finish the SCX10 chassis |

I would get the Real SCX10 instead of the Clone of an SCX10, that is depending on how beat the used truck is. Given a chance it is better to have the real deal then just a copy, but if the copy is good enough and cheap enough then it becomes a viable alternative that is how the E10 and others get a pass. They come with ok electronics and I would guess the Gen7 will to. But if you took a roller scx10 that you already had, tossed in a 1080 esc, gt3b/c radio (or get a used gt2 until he is ready for a gt3b/c), decent servo, and a 35ish turn motor you end up with a better truck with better electronics on the cheap. |

The gen 7 comes with hobby wing esc but don't know anything else about it. The body is ugly! The chassis rails though look like something you would see on a competition rig and the links sit almost straight. The SCX10 chassis I have is a real SCX10 chassis. Its not very beat up at all, just has plastic links, no mods at all. Actually I need to look inside the trans this chassis came from a friend who tried to put 3s and brushless on it. |

Sounds like you answered your own question there If the body and the chassis and the electronics on the Gen7 are subpar... might as well work from the Scx10. |

Use the existing scx10 chassis you already have and get him involved in building it up...thats the best move!
