Now, we need more options for Unimog-based bodies... and other lesser known vehicles. Although, Dynatrac Portal Axles are available as bolt-in assemblies for the Jeep Wrangler JK with a disclaimer "for off-road use only"... They are badass looking, and full of modern tech: https://www.dynatrac.com/axle-assemb...r-jeep-jk.html And AxleTech has these that add 75lbs per corner, available for the following: Dana 60 u-joint / kingpin steerable axle Dana 60 rigid axle GM corporate 14 bolt Ford Sterling 10.25" / 10.5" rigid axle: https://www.axletech.com/en/products...rtal-wheel-end Wikipedia states that "some" portal-equipped vehicles include the following: AM General HMMWV [7] and Hummer H1 International FTTS[8] Land Rover Defender 130CC-R(hino)[9] Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4² and G63 AMG 6x6 6x6 truck.[10] Mercedes-Benz Unimog[11] Porsche 597 Praga V3S (1952-1989) - 3 ton all-terrain truck (6x6) Steyr Puch Haflinger Steyr-Daimler-Puch Pinzgauer[12] Tatra T 805 small truck Tatra T 810 medium truck Toyota Mega Cruiser (Civilian model and JGSDF's High Mobility Vehicle) UAZ-469 Volkswagen Type 82 Kübelwagen Volkswagen Type 166 Schwimmwagen Volvo C303 I personally would like a Pinzgauer - Proline used to sell a vague approximation - the Recon - but you could make one pretty easily with styrene, if you had the inclination (I suppose): The Recon, discontinued long ago (second pic from a member here "kuikui"): Last edited by durok; 04-01-2018 at 08:57 PM. |

Whoa! I might want a set of those axles...eventually, next year. I got to drive a pinzgauer a couple of times. They are ridiculously small, and sitting on the axle was too different an experience to feel completely comfortable while ripping up and down the pipeline rite of way. |

But where's the fun in driving a big cushy 4x4 offroad (read Ford Raptor) when you could be thrown around like a ragdoll by every little thing? Also, my post was about having more R/C body options - thought that was fairly clear? I find myself wishing for more scale choices the longer I'm in the hobby - and seeing all of the portal-equipped RC vehicles running bodies of 1:1 vehicles that don't come with them.... I dunno, I get a little turned off. Hence my desire for some more obscure bodies - or at least imagining that the R/C is a replica of a comp 1:1 vehicle that's equipped with some modern portal conversions like those I listed. Kinda cool to see that Land Rover Defenders were built with portals in the past - a German company has been prototyping them for military and press corps use... | Re: Portal's...... VP.... What ?!? GREAT news! I like Vanquish as well, but I tend to buy SSD if you guys make what works for my applications. Now, if you'd just include your kick-ass chrome decal sheets in your Diamond axle packages! I only got them in the Bomber trailing arms package, which is a less expensive item. I need them for all 3 of my builds: Ascender has SSD brass front & rear, aluminum c-hubs, diff covers and will soon hopefully have links, too. RR10 #1 is as much SSD stuff as possible including aluminum Diamonds front and rear... RR10 #2 is similar, but Dlux plastic housings w/SSD diff covers. And I gotta spread that one sticker sheet out over all 3, so sad... |

Does anybody know the width? They look AR60 width from the videos, but that's just a guess. Awesome! Competition is good! How wide will yours be? What chrome decals? I never got any of those. Jealous! |

The Vanquish are for SCX10.2 build compatibility, as far as what I heard on the Harley videos (he's covered them in some detail in 2 videos now, one "teaser" and then the April 1 "Scale News" vid) Quote:
I'm not adverse to having a non-scale vehicle, I just also weant the choice to make a scale one that isn't a Land Rover, Toyota, Jeep, Bronco, or Blazer. I know 5 choices seems like a lot, but it ain't shit compared to how many capable 1:1 4x4 vehicle platforms have been made throughout the years. Even those names I've mentioned are missing key models - although I have personal fondness for some of the popular ones, to be sure. EDIT: Decal sheet size is 4" x 3" and the decals are high-gloss chrome on clear backgrounds, precut: Last edited by durok; 04-02-2018 at 07:13 AM. | ||

For those who are interested in a budget-friendly set of portals, don't forget that Redcat is bringing a set to market soon. I'm supposedly on the list for one of the "beta" sets out of their first batch. Pricing isn't set for the final release, but based on their beta pricing, I'm guessing under $100 for a complete set.

Easily going to be $550 for a pair of poor-tals is my guess.
