Looks like it's a copy of the Gmade R1. Servo on axle.

This is hilarious - I literally was just looking at the ancient Gmade R1 two days ago and wishing I had one to screw around with...

The R1 is a bit pricey for such old tech - but with this you could just scrape up some used or budget parts and make a fun build!

I was just fiddling with one. Got a new complete R1 cage for like 50 on fleabay.
It was just too much of a pita to stuff everything in there nicely. So it sits.

I just realized they stuck the official WRC (World Rally Championship) logo on those examples....

I love WRC, and they don't run anything resembling this whatsoever.

Crazy.

Still, depending on the price, I might actually grab one to eff around with!

Shove a Snubnose Revolver and a Mamba Micro X in one...

Element axles with the SOA mod...

Make some custom body panels with more coverage...

OK, I'll shut up now!

I wonder if the knock off g-transition shocks are as terrible as the originals

The R1 has been hanging from my basement ceiling for many years now. Sometimes I think about putting electronics back in it. Never happens. I see it more as pice of RC history than anything else. Gmade isn’t still be putting them out are they?

Just take a gander at RPP - still listed as in stock, $255 for the kit - RTR is out of stock:

R1 must have a cult following. Should be called the Praying Mantis. Yeah I Think this could be a pretty hot 1.9er with some Pro44 axles

I just ordered one of these from aliexpress for $30 shipped. I figured I have everything I need to build one, except maybe links. Should be very similar to the nugget when I'm done.

Not gonna lie, I kinda dig it. Might transfer all the stuff from my 1.9 Wraith onto one. It would be cheaper than buying a new body.

I built an R1/RS10 bastard child a few years ago and liked the small size and looks of the cage... but... the limited link and shock mounting options made it less than ideal. That included scx10ish skid should make it easier to get started than what I had come up with. I might pick up one of these just because they're cheap. I've never seen those Austar "pins" before either, I wonder what their story is?

It states "Bully Comp Tire" on the sidewall - which is an RC4WD tire - but they seem to have very slightly different pins and they wrap a bit more onto the sidewall than the originals, as shown below:

My chassis showed up today. I haven't dug into it yet, but it came well packed (bagged and bubble wrapped). It has instructions so that's a plus. Stickers are just like those pictured in the ad. I went with green, but I'll probably paint the panels something else.

I'm going to put this together with my upgraded Everest 10 axles. It'll also use the hw1040 esc, radio, and driveshafts from the e10, and a Holmes 20t crawlmaster 540. Trans is an scx10 unit with upgraded internals from an aborted camo x4 project. Tires will probably be my bomber bfgs on axial beadlocks. I'll make links from some 6mm x 2.5mm aluminum tube I picked up on Amazon, and m3 rod ends. Shocks are TBD. I've got a few options, I'll just have to see what length works out best. Hopefully I can use the proline scaler set I have that came on my bomber. They look sweet, just haven't matched anything I've put together yet.

I hope to feel up to messing with this next week. Recovering from what I hope is my last back surgery so I'm still very limited atm.

I got a start on the chassis today. I fully assembled the chassis per the instructions. Realized this evening after starting the trans install that the battery tray was in backwards (in the instructions). Easy fix to flip it around to clear the spur.

Speaking of the trans, I added a .125" spacer under the transmission because the motor was hitting the upper link mount without it.

Initial impressions:
The chassis overall feels really solid. I'll likely add a couple more spacer tubes to brace it up, but I wouldn't say it "needs" any more.

I noticed the skid plate feels pretty flimsy once I started putting the trans in. Once it's all screwed to the chassis I'm sure it'll be adequate, but its not nearly as rigid as the rest of the plastic. The link mounts are also too narrow for what I believe is the "standard" rod end. All my rod ends are .294", and the link mounts on the chassis are all ~.275"-.285". It's an easy fix with the dremel, but worth mentioning. I don't have an scx10 to compare with, but it appears to be a standard skid and in turn could be swapped for any other scx10 skid (axial or other).

The only other problem was that I was shorted 2 screws (m3x10). Not a big deal.

Here you can see how tight the link mount is after adding the spacer under the trans
