Cross Demon SG 4 gear reduction issues

I have a Demon SG 4C version with all metal parts. I am assuming that the gear reduction set is the same for all versions except for the C version having a metal housing instead of plastic. My question is this....Has anyone else running this truck had issues with the pressed in gears in the gear reduction mechanism, having their axles shift out of place , causing gear mesh issues? I am on my second gear reduction assembly and now it has happened again. This usually results in teeth being broken or ground down. My helical pinion gear on motor shaft seems to be fine. I'll admit that getting the proper tension between pinion and gear in reduction housing is tricky because its basically blind. My first mechanism must have sifted too tight and caused the motor and speed control to over heat and shut off. After readjusting on new reduction gear mechanism, the motor ran cooler but now the gear that meshes with the pinion gear is sliding out of position causing the pinion gear to slip . Anyone have any advice as to how to fix this problem. I do not think this gear reduction system is very reliable.

I don't have one of these. Personally I would try fitting an axial transmission and axles under it. I am under the impression that looks took priority over reliability.

I think think the company would have done better to just produce bodies for other scale trucks.

This is all just opinion that I have formed from limited stories I have read.

Perhaps other people in the forums have found an easy transmission swap? Sraerch for daemon transmission possibly?

Email CrossRC or their distributor and see what they say, two gearboxes in a row is something wrong. I've not heard of this happening before with Cross trucks and have not heard of axle problems either, but that does not mean they don't exist.

The upgraded transmission is the way to go. The moment I unwrapped my Cross kit (version C) that my wife got me for Christmas I jumped right on Cross RC’s site and ordered the new trans. The old trans is what kept me from getting one from the start. Once I saw an upgraded one, I wanted a kit.
