SCX10 Axles in a Barrage 1/12?

Has anyone documented putting SCX10 axles in a Barrage? My Barrage Gen 2 blew a front axle shaft and they are $35.99 from Horizon. I know I will break one again.

Links will need to be different lengths and driveshafts will need to be different lengths.

Any ideas?

I wish the replacements were cheaper or someone made better ones.
