Default Which route would you go?

Ok I am in a dilemma and just looking for ideas on what you guys would do. I have an scx10 honcho with a super duty body, nothing special just a beat around rig that I told my 10 year old daughter she can have. A stout rig she probably can't break with 1.9 tires.

I am looking to do a 79 Ford hardbody build. And i could go a few ways. Do i make it a super scale rig and keep it for a house princess? With leaf springs? Or would you 4 link it and use it for an outdoor rig? Maybe put 2.2 on the honcho and put these nice 1.9 on the 79. I am just looking for insight. I will bend my own frame up for it.

My dude...

Tribute to my Dad's 79 F100 featuring Banzai
Hard body stuff starts on page 27.
Let me know if you have any questions.
JK3DRC body is legit, just takes a ton of prep work.
Oh and she is sitting on a VERY long ascender (364mm but it was a custom order longbed) with gcm rear leaf kit and forward motor kit.

If you have any questions post on that thread I highly encourage chatter there ;)

Do you actually want to drive it? If so, I'd make it more capable than not.

my f150 runs leafs in the rear and 4 link up front i like it the leafs are actualy realy good on the rear most of my 4linked rigs run a sway bar on the rear but the leafs dont need one unless there is 8lbs of water in the bed of the truck then it could use a sway bar lol
i get more than enuff flex from the front and just a bit in the rear under normal conditions the rear is stiff and the front is flexxy any more flex in the system would be to much in my opinion its the best choice for performance and scale looks but 5hats just my opinion lol

Thanks guys.i am leaning towards the vintage built mud truck with bigger 1.9 on them. I might throw some 2.2 on my daughter's super duty.so custom 4 link. Custom chassis. I like the staleness of rc4wd stuff like the trex 60 axles but when I had a trail finder it seemed like they didn't seem like rc4wd stands up.

79 ford hardbody mud truck? okay i could get behind that.
but where do you intend to get the hardbody from?

for tough axles you could get VP or even bowhouse with ascender guts in them. my ascender axles are bomb proof, but that's probably due to the fact they are CODYBOY enhanced/narrowed.
the beauty of custom build 4 link is you can pretty much use whatever axles you want.

Same place you got yours. Shin. I was going to make a replica of my old 1:1 1979 f150. I took the motor out and hopped it up 4 inch suspension lift 35 inch tires. Ford blue. Leaf springs are super scale but not as capable in rc. First thing I will do is get the body prep it up than bend the frame. Than I have to figure out what shocks and axles to go with.

ah you are going for like a mini-bigfoot sort of build... i dig it.
you could put just about any 1:10 scale axles under it with some custom links and driveshafts. SSD D60 would be stout and look killer.
same with shocks. proline XT might be overkill but also might be perfect for a mud truck. or just about any traxxas basher style shock would work.

just be careful with that JKRC 3D printed body... they are heat sensitive and HEAVY. don't leave it in the car, and your chances of a rollover at the height you will likely run at... yikes.
unless you are dead-set on a hardbody, you have options in lexan as well.
carisma has a 76 but you can fix that with a 3D printed grill from RC Nerds
jconcepts is what i ran, again with a custom sized RC Nerds 3D printed grill (and front bumper, mirrors, light lenses)
Traxxas has their clear body classic bigfoot. already has a decent molded grill and bumpers.

but i really hope we see a build thread for this, sounds cool!

*your old 1:1 look anything like this?

Mine wasn't near that nice lol. I am going to weight down the rims to keep center of gravity low. I dont know what drivetrain I will run yet but I will figure it out.

what wheels you going to run? might not need to weight them (avoid if possible) you could weight the axles instead.
when do you plan on starting the build? have you been in touch with Mr Kim yet? hes really easy to work with, aside from the time difference lol

maybe she looked more like this?
